Always a pleasure to stay in one of their unique and beautifully-appointed cabins. Everything is so snug and comfy. Restaurant servers and office staff are lovely.
The front desk was very helpful and welcoming. I regret booking only for one night, I definitely recommend this place especially if your looking to reconnect to nature and find peace.
It’s a hidden gem and every time I have stayed there, I have had a perfect time. Restaurant staff is great, office staff is responsive and pleasant, rooms are sparking clean and comfy. I cannot rave enough about the comfy beds and pillows and the awesome kitchen in the cabin.
The restaurant menu used to be much more extensive, but even the shorter offering had something everyone enjoyed, was well-executed, and portions are always generous after a fun day in desolation/mokelumne wilderness.

Amazing place, staff, location, had snow too, a room fireplace and a shared bonfire. A restaurant as well. Mini cabin for hotel prices, extremely good value here. 2 Tesla charging stations at hotel. One for older teslas as well
The room was romantic and cozy! Loved the bath tub!
The first snow fall for the year made it such a cute and cozy stay. The restaurant and sauna were both nice ammenities on site. It's a place I would love enjoying a nice getaway again, summer, fall or winter!
The favorite place for our fur family to stay when in the area! Such unique cabins, great staff, EV charging, wonderful onsite restaurant - and dog friendly!
Our little cabin ‘Foxtail’ was perfect! This was a last minute getaway to a place we have always wanted to visit! We had the most wonderful experience! The cabin albeit small, had everything you could need and more! The bed was comfy, the room was warm and peaceful, there was a full kitchen w/ stove, mini fridge and sink! The bathroom was tiny but just right and the shower was nice and hot!
We walked around the small resort grounds and found many little gathering areas some with beautiful fire pits surrounded by Adirondack chairs! We had a delicious drink at their bar as well as a chicken pot pie and Bavarian pretzel from the restaurant all within steps of our cottage! We can’t wait to go back!
the glamping experience is wonderful with bathtub in the in the yurt. And the furnishing is chic with a scandinavian tone. Will visit again in next foliage season for a quiet getaway.

Location was perfect!
Staff was amazing. I had an issue but they were so quick to remedy, it really didn’t feel like an issue at all. Very pet friendly, so if you are in doubt about bringing your furry friend, don’t. It’s a great place for them too. Not to mention kids.
I will add, I think the best part was the fact that they still had a diner and bar open even through a Holiday. That was a major plus.
Everything is perfect. The scenary around was amazing. Some houses have Christmas light decoration likes those on postcard. Our family had such a great time! The only thing I would mention is that the loft with king bed is very warm even with the window half open compare to the room downstairs. If we turn off the heat, the room downstairs will be a little chilly. But we get the small heater in the downstairs room to warm it up so it’s all good. Will definitely be returning.
We showed up to this beautiful resort to see the fall colors, it did not disappoint. We stayed in a yurt next to the river, it was glorious! Dog friendly was a plus. We will be back!
Everything was very nice and my wife and I had a relaxing stay.
The fall colors were out in full glory and temprature was 29 degrees which was nice waking up to.
We have stayed here before and will continue to do so.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cabin we stayed in was cozy, clean and comfortable. Can't wait to come back!

The yurt is wonderful. Very comfortable and it has all the modern amenities. I can hear the river as I type this. The only drawback is the lack of bathroom privacy (not closed off from the room).
It was a cozy cabin. We had a very late checkin, but there was proper instruction sent to the phone. Had an electric fire place. Room was warm. There was a complimentary wine. Thanks.
Reason for no 5 star is, the bathtub is extremely smooth and so slippery. All 4 of us slipped on the tub. It was extremely dangerous. No wonder I see the 3 grab bars, but wish they replace the tubs or provide new mats for the tub for every guest. Lot of fatal accidents happen in slippery tubs!

Our room was very clean and the they had great pet options. Pets are very welcome!
The Dyson blow dryer was a nice added touch…it worked amazing! Also loved the Sauna!
The highway noise is very loud. And the heater kept making noise all night. We stayed in the Redwood room, very close to the highway. Wish there was a Sunday breakfast or brunch to eat. The bed could have been more comfy…felt like a futon.
All I can say is WOW!! Fabulous trip all around!! Staff, location, accommodation!! The Yurt was amazing. It rained and there was lighting. The Yurt has a ceiling had a sky light. So we not only dry and safe from the elements but we also got a nature show. This was definitely a way to be removed from the crazy rat race of life!! Would recommend everyone give an Yurt stay a try 😄
This hotel is about 25 minutes from the main area of South Lake Tahoe/stateline, but it’s a beautiful drive that goes quickly and so worth it! We stayed in “St Nicks” cabin and it was just so perfect! So clean, well cared for, nicely stocked kitchen, and fun loft area to sleep in. I will for SURE stay at this Desolation Hotel again, and I will tell my friends and family as well. Thank you for a great spot!
