"Such a special hotel in one of the most gorgeous cities we’ve ever visited. Staying in a hotel built right into the cave made our whole experience in Matera feel even more incredible. Everything about it was breathtaking and unique, and it was definitely worth the stay. The spa in the basement was also such a nice bonus — especially after walking up and down all those hills! We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely come back."

"Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita was one of the most memorable stays of our entire Italy trip. Staying in a beautifully restored historic cave in the heart of Matera was such a unique and magical experience. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and full of character, while still being very comfortable. The staff were absolutely wonderful—warm, friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. Breakfast was also fantastic, with fresh local food and excellent service. The location in the Sassi is incredible, and simply stepping outside the hotel feels like stepping back in time. More than just a hotel, Sextantio really feels like part of the Matera experience. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it!"

The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive, making us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. The food was outstanding, beautifully prepared, fresh, and one of the highlights of our stay. The property itself is stunning. The grounds are peaceful, beautifully maintained, and full of charm. Every little detail added to the experience and made the hotel feel like such a special place to relax and enjoy Italy. Honestly, everything was perfect. The beautiful setting, wonderful food, exceptional staff, and overall atmosphere exceeded our expectations. We loved our stay and would return without hesitation. "This is an amazing choice to stay in historic Sasso! The location is spectacular! The views are stunning! There is beauty at every angle. You will wear out your camera. No wonder it's been used as a film location for multitudes of movies. Call ahead and arrange for parking because the hotel is in a no parking/driving location. You will understand when you arrive. The spectacular hotel staff will provide a shuttle service for you and your luggage. The amazing and friendly staff will assist you with anything you need. I can't say enough of how helpful and incredible the staff is! Definitely stay 2 days or more if you want to hike at the caves. The breakfast is also spectacular! There is amazing food in town too. Research ahead of time and make reservations as the best places fill up quickly. Truly a stunning choice to stay! BRAVO!"

"The hotel is very clean, offers a modern interior and the room was well laid out with some nice touches. The breakfast was extremely good in the restaurant on site. The swimming pool wouldn't appear to be heated but that was fine for the time of year. The only disappointment was the need to pay 5 euros for a towel which you can get round by taking the ones down from your room"

"We found the property to be immaculately clean! Rooms and common areas impressed us all with the cleanliness and I personally am not easily impressed. We stayed all inclusive. Not only did we find the quality of food very good, but the selection was also great. Didn't know wine was included which was a bonus, being from Italian origin, that doesn't surprise me....we are used to having wine with our meals!! If I had to leave a critique, it would be that the T.V. was too small for our room. Three of us shared a very generous sized room. The mattresses were comfortable enough ... but maybe should soon be replaced. Overall, our group of 5 give it a 5/5 rating! I would definitely recommend and/or return!!"
