City of Marathon License: VACA-23-27 The Space: This completely remodeled 4 bed / 3 bath home sits on a waterfront corner lot that boasts over 100' of direct ocean frontage plus an additional 100' of protected dockage. The brand new concrete dock supports a single boat up to 40' (or multiple boats not more than 60' total) with new bumpers, mooring whips, electric and water, ladder, and a large covered fish cleaning table. An outdoor shower, commercial ice maker, dedicated bait freezer, kayak launching area, and quick ocean / gulf access make this home the ideal location for every Keys activity! Located oceanfront midway between Sombrero Reef and Coffins Patch dive sites the home provides near-instant access to everything the Keys has to offer. The home features a fully stocked kitchen with stainless Whirlpool appliances to accommodate family meals at a large dining table overlooking the open ocean. We offer full-sized pots and pans and Keurig coffee makers, blenders, plenty of glasses for wine, beer, tropical drinks, and both formal and casual dishware for indoor or outdoor dining with every serving utensil you could ask for. A gas grill is located just off the dining area, and raised bar-style outdoor seating provides for stunning sunrises and sunsets. The 3/4 wrap around balcony affords 180 degrees of private open water views! Absolutely incredible space, location, and property manager support. Our stay was planned as a "once in a lifetime trip" to celebrate a recent retirement but after staying at Hook Down Hideaway my husband and I agreed it has to be an annual event and that no other place measures up. We enjoyed the pool, the outdoor TV, the beautiful home, comfy couch and beds. Everything we needed was already there! The pool, fishing off the dock, kayaking and paddle boarding were daily events. We enjoyed the town, its many restaurants and can't wait to come next year. We have already scheduled time. ##### Lyn K. We stay at different places every year. But I think we have finally found the best! It was expensive for just 1 family, but you pay for what you get. It was clean, perfect location, had everything you need. We rented a pontoon boat this year so we could fish and relax at the sand bar, but we always wanted to return to the pool. It was AMAZING!! Lord willing we can return for many more spring breaks in the future. ##### Lori R. This property is well taken care of with a gorgeous view of sunrise. Channel is right there, you can see the Sombrero reef lighthouse from the property. We saw sea turtles in the morning. We loved being able to use the kayaks and paddle boards. The pool was large and the hot tub was wonderful. Beds are beyond comfortable with large showers. The kitchen is spacious and we loved how everything was labeled and organize. Functionality of the house was good. I really had only 2 complaints. 1) wish there was a bathroom downstairs (especially for kids) so they aren’t coming upstairs every 2 seconds to use the bathroom lol. 2) I do wish we could of had more supplies for the amount of money we paid to stay there. This is a week rental, that being said, it would of been nice to have more than 1 toilet paper roll per bathroom, and more than 1 paper towel roll. So by the time you buy supplies it can add up! I’m talking tin foil, baggies, dish washer pods, trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels. It was an inconvenience but not enough to not stay at this wonderful place again. We were right on space in the car so we had to buy everything while there. Next time I’ll know. Property manager Brian was accommodating and quick to respond. Thank you for making our Anniversary trip so wonderful. This house is a gem. Can’t wait to come back. ##### Patricia K. We stayed at this beautiful home for a full week with our whole family, and it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Keys. The location on the canal with ocean access was such a bonus — we loved watching the boats go by, fishing right from the dock, and taking in the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.The house was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for everyone to spread out. The outdoor area was definitely the highlight — the pool was sparkling and warm, and the hot tub was the perfect way to unwind in the evenings. We spent most of our time outside grilling, swimming, and enjoying the tropical breeze.The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and the hosts were great with communication. It was close to restaurants, grocery stores, and attractions, but still felt peaceful and private.We made so many wonderful family memories here and would absolutely stay again. Love how Marathon is a low-key area, with much less hassle than Key West (as well as less of a drive from Miami), and the house itself is no more than 5 minutes from any restaurant or grocery store on the island. The house itself has everything you could need for cooking, as well as kayaks and a pool for getting out to the reef for fishing or relaxing in after a day in the sun. Communication with the host was seamless, and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. ##### Kreg H. I am a bit of a clean freak and normally feel like I have to clean or sanitize when I arrive at a vacation home...not at all with this place, sparkling clean and an incredible location both on the water and land. We rented a boat and had easy access to several reefs for amazing snorkeling and amazing fishing locations. Super easy and quick access to groceries, drug stores and restaurants, yet at the end of a quiet street. Mornings and late afternoon/evenings unwinding in the pool and/or spa was incredible with spectacular views of ocean, sunrise and sunsets. Also, the app provided convenient and easy access to all of the amenities and requirements. My only suggestion would be to improve upon the lack of paper products and basics like laundry detergent. Though well appointed and a lovely welcome gift, a supply of basic needs would have been much appreciated upon arrival.
