First of all good points - location is excellent for good places to eat and drink, and shops. Easily walkable from any of the train stations.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Downside - Usual cretins that insist on banging doors and shouting and running down corridors at 3am. Normal for a City centre Hotel I know, and not a lot the hotel can do about it, but worth mentioning.
The Room - lovely decorated with a funky mural behind the bed, nice bathroom etc. It's only when you look up and see the bare concrete ceiling with drill holes and setting out markings for the exposed cable ducts, that completely lets down the feeling of the room. I know Post Modern Industrial Brutalism Architecture (is that such a thing??) can have it's place but in a chic boutique hotel, I don't think so. As if George and Roger the painters had knocked off early to go to the pub on Friday and didn't come back!
The biggest issue we had is that the bathroom waste stack for all the rooms above us, (we were on the 1st floor), was about 6 inches from our heads behind the wall, completely un-sound proofed, so everyone's ablutions were whizzing past at 10m per second all night. Sounded like a rainstorm on a Brazilian Favela's tin roof!
