We were in an annex, not in the main hotel. The room was clean, but the space was very small with the 'bedroom' on a mezzanine floor. The roof sloped so much it was difficult not to crack your head on the ceiling. The bed was a small double. The towels were old and must have been washed using conditioner as they did not dry you after a shower. There was a beer festival on the weekend we stayed and the volume of the music outside was exceptionally loud and even inside the annex with the door and windows shut, you could hear everything very clearly. The hotel obviously knew this was the situation because they provided earplugs! The whole place is desperately in need of refurbishment. But the staff were very friendly.

Lovely, interesting old building in a very good location. Given the age of the hotel there are the inevitable uneven floors and slightly steep stairs. The free parking at the rear of the hotel is a real bonus. Our room was comfortable, well equipped and pleasantly decorated. The breakfasts were consistently good but sadly the hotel does not provide evening meals. All the staff were cheerful and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely loved the Blue Boar, had a courtyard ground floor room, bar and seating areas are great. Breakfast was first class. Brilliant on site parking. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again 🙂

Delightful, comfy, characterful very centrally located with pleasant, helpful staff. The room was clean, tidy comfy and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was freshly cooked with good quality ingredients. All in all, we had a very pleasant, if brief, stay and would certainly stay again and recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Maldon.

I booked late in the day but staff were very welcoming on check in. Clean, warm and comfy room. Great pub attached and Excellent breakfast. Location is ideal right at the top of a busy high street but noise wasn't an issue during the stay.

Room was clean and the young person was so very helpful Breakfast was excellent and cooked perfect both mornings I commented to the young chef that cooked our breakfast on Wednesday morning. What a fantastic job he had made. Even the waitress listen to instructions about tea and toast and followed them to the letter The only thing I’d probably say that was missing was the attached pub/bar only did lunchtime meals and not evening

Staff were great, breakfast was very good. Easy parking. A very old building and theyve done their best to modernise it. I felt the access from the pub into the the hotel area was perhaps less secure than most hotels. On the whole a good experience at the Blue Boar.

Lovely room bathroom great bed was nice pillows of which spoilt our nights sleep probably came out of pound land and the only other thing was couldn't understand was why there was a coffee table for a drink station much to low! We had a drink in the bar opposite waited 10 minutes for the red headed bar staff member to come back from the court yard to serve without even saying sorry for your wait which i found exceptional rude. But on a good note the breakfast was lovely.

Great comfortable hotel in a perfect location

Lovely hotel. We stayed in studio it was spotlessly clean. Only slight thing was to change air conditioning settings you had to stand on arm of sofa, maintenence man came over and helped us though. Very comfy nice and quiet. Great blackout blinds and comfy bed made for a nice lay in. Pub was really quaint nice old features. Breakfast was so good, staff so friendly and helpful. Great location in High Street. Would come back.

Brilliant Stay

Fatastic hotel and our room and ensuite was lovely, my only issue was the mattress was rather noisy. Breakfast was lovely but please try either Linda McCartney or Cauldren veggie sausages as even meat eaters love them. If we're ever in the area again we'll definately stay at The Blue Boar. The staff were lovely too.

Excellent stay. The hotel team were friendly and welcoming. We were able to transfer our booked room to a downstairs room. That’s a big thank you. Breakfast was cooked to order and was perfect. Excellent location. The hotel, yes we will be staying there again.
