This is one of the best hostels I have stayed in. The staff are friendly and welcoming and organise walking tours of Chiang Mai on occasion to bring people together. The dining area and other outdoor areas are great for hanging out in and meeting the other travellers. The rooms are clean and the beds and pillows are comfy. The breakfast is simple but excellent and the kitchen appliances and utensils are available for cooking and storage of food. The hostel also has a great location.

I stayed in the Suite at Premier Hostel Chiang Mai and it was genuinely amazing. The room was huge and the bed was massive and super comfortable — easily one of the best rooms I’ve had while travelling. The location is great too, right in the Old Town and perfect for walking around to temples, cafés and night markets. The staff were so friendly and helpful- giving lots of advice of good places to visit. Free water saved us lots of money & location was great. Breakfast had a small selection but bread and fruit was very good! Only thing that let it down a little bit was our room wasn’t cleaned in the 6 days we were there, meaning towels etc were quite grotty by the end! Insight Hostel was very calm and relaxing. While its small and has less activities compared to others in Chiangmai, it was perfect for me to sit back with nature and relax. The environment was amazing with big trees and all traditional houses was great. Ultimately I ended up with fond memories of a place with staff that made me feel like family. THIS IS NOT A HIGH ENERGY/ACTIVE but WONDERFUL SLOW LIFE accommodation.

If you want somewhere basic and well located in Chiangmai old town, this is the place for you. Staff were so friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a lovely area walking distance from lovely shops and places to eat and book other excursions. My only complaint would be that the room was quite basic, there was a lot of noise from other AC generators (despite the one in our room being turned off whilst we tried to sleep) and the shower was not hot.
