Maria and Porta S. Jacopo, located in a very quiet residential area of Lucca. We are very close to the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro which can be reached in a few minutes both on foot and by bicycle, and all kinds of shops. The house is a villa of the 50s, with two floors with separate entrances, just renovated and the ground floor is reserved for friends and guests. The 90 sq.m. apartment comprises a 21 sq.mt kitchen, equipped with a dishwasher and a 3.5 m table, which can accommodate up to 16 people (for our family gatherings), a living room with two single sofa beds (or double bed), a bathroom, a double bedroom (or two single beds) and a subscale with washing machine. On request it is possible to add two more beds or a cot for a child. The house is equipped with independent heating. Many times you temper your expectations for a stay, this place far exceeded any expectations we had. The kitchen is huge, it looks brand new, and has a beautiful rustic kitchen table that can possibly serve 10 people. We were not expecting a kitchen of this size in an apartment. We had breakfasts and dinners here and only ate out for lunch. The whole apartment is bright and cheery and looks as if it has been completed gutted and remodeled over the last two years. The apartment is located on the northeast side of the old walled city. It is within easy walking distance of two of the entry gates. The neighborhood is quiet, there is a beautiful garden just outside the apartment's entrance. You could not ask for a nicer place to stay or two nicer people who own it. Lucca is wonderful, in retrospect we should have stayed here longer as it was so relaxing.
