The flat itself was amazing. Clean, spacious and comfortable. The location was also great. Francesco went above and beyond to make our vacation great. He was very informative and had great recommendations. He also set up a home cooking class and meal for 12 and it was amazing-a highlight of our trip. The chef was able to make the meal gluten free. He also arranged a winery tour and tasting; which, I would recommend as well. Francesco also helped with our bags to and from the airport. The apartment is close to everything inside the charming, historic walled city. Be prepared to climb three flights of stairs, but then be prepared for the reward of a spectacular view of Lucca's famous Guinigi Tower, a small plaza with a clock tower, the Bell tower of San Martino Cathedral, & the red tile roofs, balconies & flower boxes of the neighborhood. To describe the views as "stunning" is not overstated. Lucca is a city of ancient, narrow streets & this apartment's third floor location gives it magnificent natural light & fresh breezes. We had breakfast every morning on our balcony. The host-Francesco-has restored the apartment to modern standards while retaining so many important cultural & period components in every room to place you "in Tuscany". Although no longer functional, the piano in the sitting room played on occasion by "Lucca's own" composer Giacomo Puccini & the antique copper water heater are especially remarkable. Francesco was a valuable and responsive resource for information on parking, restaurants, bike rental & more even before we arrived. He texted once every morning to be sure there was nothing we needed. The apartment was immaculate when we arrived. The 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms were perfect for our family of 7 adults-it easily could accommodate children or two families traveling together. My family has traveled to Lucca over and over. When my wife and I entered the apartment we could not believe how lucky we felt to have found this spot. Every detail reminded both of us of Tuscany. From the beautiful floors, to the original beamed ceiling, to the kitchen that led out to a terrace overlooking the terracotta shingled houses in the neighborhood, every detail was exactly what we were looking for. Francesco was our host and he could not have been any better. We cannot wait to return to Lucca for many reasons, but returning to this apartment is near the top of our list! ##### Mark M. Although big enough for a group of 9 to stay more than comfortably, it still had a cozy feel. It’s beautiful with antique touches and rustic feel but with wonderfully modern bathrooms and AC that kept us comfortable through an intense heat wave. Francesco was able to provide us transport from the train station to the apartment and checked in throughout our stay to be sure there was nothing we needed. It was also ideally located so not right on top of all the noise and foot traffic of the main piazza and shopping but still easily accessible by only being steps away from all you’ll want to see.
