This is a beautiful cabin with a lot of space. The wildlife and stars were amazing. The only drawback was the 8 miles on the gravel road and the distance to Livingston.

If you want solitude and views, this is the place for you! The road is quite long and bumpy to get there, but so worth it! Definitely recommend to everyone.

Beautiful Place to Stay!

We had the best time staying at The Shepherds Retreat! It is a beautiful home in a beautiful location. Everything we needed was included. The house is decorated beautifully. The beds were super comfortable and it was so peaceful. The caretaker was so kind and helpful! We loved every minute and would recommend staying here. Thank you!

Shepherds Retreat felt welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. The scent of fresh-baked bread, thoughtfully prepared by the caretakers Don and his wife, filled the home and set the tone for a truly special stay.My grandkids immediately discovered the upstairs game room and happily spent most of their time there when we were at the house. The sleeping arrangements were perfect — comfortable, cozy, and very much like home. The antique décor added a beautiful sense of nostalgia, making it feel like stepping back into Grandma’s house. And the sitting room views were simply breathtaking — we were in awe of both the sunrises and sunsets.Judson was incredibly accommodating with excellent communication throughout our stay. If you’re looking for country charm paired with Montana magic, Shepherds Retreat delivers all that and more. -The Redmons & Browns-

Everything was great except for the coffee pot (see attached pic). Someone left the grounds in the pot and it began to mold. Needless to say, we used the Keurig quite a bit. We emptied the coffee pot and put it in the dishwasher. We loved the house and the views! Thank you!

Spectacular Mountain Experience

We travelled from Central NY to Montana for a friend’s wedding. We were wanting a mountain experience and The Shepard Retreat was exactly that. We loved its remote location and ability to “unplug” and enjoy the views. From coffee on the porch at sunrise to evening sunsets on the back deck, just breathtaking views in all directions. The kitchen was well stocked and the house had everything we needed. If we ever come back to Montana in the future, this spot will be at the top of our list!

No Words

I don’t even know where so start- if you are considering this property, just book it. You will not be disappointed. We were here for MSU graduation, 60th birthday, and kicking cancer’s butt. The property is magical and soul soothing. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. And the views- so much history inside and out. Book now!

Sheperd’s Retreat

Judson worked with us from the very first communication to the very last. He coordinated scheduling the Sheperd’s Nook so our group of hunters had the entire place to ourselves. There was plenty of room to relax after a day of hunting. Mule deer, Whitetail and Antelope were seen daily on the drive into the property. A couple of coyotes crossed our paths as well. We hope to return next year!

The Shepherd's Retreat is out in the middle of nowhere, just the way we wanted it! The gravel road was county maintained and in good condition, we had no trouble getting our van in. We stayed four days and drove into Livingston for lunch at the Engine Room one day and enjoyed a delicious deep dish Chicago style pizza! We saw numerous herds of antelope during our drive in and out to The Shepherd's Retreat and we saw an abundance of mule deer, including nice bucks, many of which hung around the house enjoying the green lawn. We also saw a glimpse of a pair of Golden eagles! The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen very well stocked. The communication with our hosts wonderful and they responded quickly. They even helped us out of a couple of jams having nothing to do with their beautiful place. They went above and beyond and we are truly grateful!

Exactly what you would want in Montana!!!

Met the family at the Shepards Retreat for three nights. My wife, two adult boys, a girlfriend and a dog who all had an amazing experience. The only wildlife we didn’t see was a moose, but everything else was around, doing their thing (including bear). Check in was a breeze, the host communicated and was welcoming and the retreat had everything you needed. I would strongly recommend the retreat for those that want to take a break, get away from it all, spend quality time with family or just want to relax. Nothing better than sitting on the porches in the morning with your coffee and binoculars looking for your “neighbors”. We will be back. Thanks for the experience.

Beautiful place, hard as heck to get to

This is a great place to stay at. The owner was very responsive to us. Would love to stay for a few days. Only issue is that getting there is brutal. Google and Waze had us take a route that involved 8 miles of gravel (that became a dirt trail) that dead-ended. We called the owner, he helped us with new directions. That, too, was 8 miles of gravel and rock roads. I live on a gravel road, no problem there. But this wasn't a gravel road. If you don't have big tires and a big vehicle, I would think hard about this place. The holes in the road broke the backing plate on one of our tires. But, again, place was nice and the views from this REMOTE location are amazing!

Phenomenal and relaxing

First off the host is extremely responsive. Anything I needed he responded fast and took care of it. The drive in is long. This is stated in the description. Drive slow and you will see pronghorn, mule deer some very nice bucks, bunnies, fox, coyotes, a man bear with two cubs and of course cows. The cattle guesses should give that away. We enjoyed our drive in/out immensely. It rained while we were there. The road had big holes and became bumpy in spots. If you have a low profile vehicle be prepared. The house is isolated. You will be along way out in the middle of nowhere. Enjoy it. No noise pollution other than wildlife and the occasional far off lonely howl of the train horn. No Light pollution. Look up there are stars. Fresh air. Breath deeply. That’s what fresh clean air smells like. The house is beautiful. Loved the window views I have many pictures of the wildlife from the windows. The bucks fighting was amazing. Take your coffee. Go sit on the porch. Watch the sunrise. It’s balm for the soul. Have a night cap watch the sunset over the mountains. Feel the peacefulness surround you. Enjoy it. The kitchen is stocked with several amenities. The beds were comfortable. The house was clean and welcoming. We all enjoyed our stay. This is the place to go to just relax. You are quite a drive from all those touristy places. There is one place that is a must. That is the Bozeman hot springs. We spent an afternoon there and felt amazingly revitalized.

This was the most amazing place to stay. Beautiful home and beautiful view and wildlife everywhere. The drive in was a bit long but it after seeing the mountains and the views, it was well worth it. The house was very clean and had everything we needed if we forgot anything. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay around that area.

The place was great, very clean, plenty of amenities (kitchen items, towels, soaps, etc.) and we had an absolute blast there. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. The only two slight things I might mention that weren't great were the fact that there was a property manager staying in the apartment below us for part of our time there that we had not been told would be there. And when my girlfriend went to take a bath on our first night, we ran out of hot water before the tub was even half full. But those were minor things. Overall, it was a great experience.

Amazing Retreat! We loved staying at this property. Beautiful views in a very remote, peaceful setting. The host was friendly and communicated well. The driving directions were clear and the check in process was seamless. There were numerous amenities, more than I typically see at vacation rental. We also really enjoyed the decor of the house. We would highly recommend this place! Thanks for sharing your home with us.
