I didn't realize this was a hostel set up with shared common spaces until I walked in. Was a bit nervous of how this would work for my family. We stayed in the spacious Blue Room. We had a very nice and spacious bathroom (2 shower stalls, 2 toilets, 1 shower) that was located in the shared area with a key we could use to lock up. There is a fridge and pantry with shelves allocated to each room. The kitchen and the common areas are very quirky with lots of personality. My kids loved sharing the platform bed and it provided us some semi-privacy after weeks of traveling together. The Blue Room has a big window that faces the road - it's fun to look down at the people in the street and plaza. I was concerned with the street noise but closing the window and huge wooden shutters was very effective at sealing out the noise. Con was that it became a tad too warm at night. I would imagine this could be a big challenge in the summer as there is no AC but nights in March were cool enough to make this manageable. It would be great to have access to the washing machine but it was explained that there is no space for a dryer and the clothesline is only accessible via a guest room so can't be used by guests. Loved the staff! The location can't be beat! Yes its on the third floor so if heavy bags - just take your time - its not a sprint. We personally didnt find it noisy but do get some comments on it - with windows open you got the city - which i liked. if closed you didnt hear much really. no tv in rooms which again - to me is a plus. In the kitchen there is space fopr each room to store food etc and also a marked shelf in the fridge. We shared a bathroom with 3 other rooms and only had to wait briefly. There is no front desk or anyone working in the actual building that can help you check in, and they text you the access instructions via WhatsApp without informing you that you need to get that app. Therefore, make sure you get WhatsApp several days before arriving and make sure that you have the building/ room access codes before you get there! Additionally, there is a Lisbon Calling hotel in same building just one floor down, so make sure you book which one you want as it can be kind of confusing.
