This was a charming cottage in the middle of a working thoroughbred horse farm. We saw 15-20 gorgeous horses hanging out in various paddocks. The cottage was isolated because it was more than 100 yards down a gravel road from the main home. We never actually saw the owner Kitty, although we communicated easily with her by email or text. The farm is out in true bluegrass country, but still only 8 minutes from the nearest town, Versailles (with several restaurant options and a great Bourbon bar), and 15 minutes from Keeneland racecourse in Lexington. It is a perfect spot for visits to distilleries along the bourbon trail. We were there in February, and Kitty supplied ample wood for the fireplace. It snowed while we were there and the tree-lined drive into the farm glistened with the snow. Although the cottage has 4 beds, there are only 2 totally private bedrooms (the others are in a loft and a curtained anteroom next to the living room), but for a small group (like us) this would be perfect. Our two aussie shepherd dogs were welcome, and Kitty provided good advice about attending morning workouts at Keeneland even in the off-season. Keeneland is wide open to the public and worth the visit, including the Track Kitchen. We were concerned about wifi coverage, but needn't have been as the wifi was good and easily handled streaming in the evenings. Highly recommended by two pretty picky travelers.
