"I really used to like this hotel as its in a beautiful location. I won't go back unless they buck there ideas up, check in was 4pm, room not ready after driving for 5 hours, no bar open and it's miles away from Inveraray, 5pm given a room key and found out it hadn't been cleaned. Bar opened 5pm my husband got me a drink and manager or owner (he turned up about 16.50 ) said by the time we had the drink our alternative room would be ready. "We had a lovely few days in Walled Garden Mews 10 in Melfort Holiday Village. It was well thought-out and so comfortably slept four adults and two children on the sofa bed on the mezzanine. There was plenty of storage and the kitchen was one of the best equipped I've come across in a holiday let. The facilities were great; the children were able to run free and enjoy the games rooms and the swings that were just next door/outside and we all loved going to the pool, which was beautifully warm....

"Friendly receptionist, help me sorting out the TV remote control, unfortunately the TV still didn't work. One of the ceilings lights kept on flickering and only went off when I took the key card out of its slot. As it was passed midnight I didn't bother to go downstairs to ask it be sorted. There were not staff around in the morning so couldn't do it then either. Otherwise nice comfy, clean room."

"This obviously would have been a very grand hotel in its heyday. It's no longer grand but still rather wonderful - high ceilings and huge windows with sea-views. Unpretentious and perfect if you're travelling with kids/dogs/any animal that you might normally worry could do harm/cause annoyance - no need to worry about that here. Traditional breakfast is rather excellent and there are bean-to-cup coffee machines with unlimited refill/return."

"An excellent 'bar pension', centrally located easy walking distance from the rail station and ferry terminal. The rooms are very stylishly decorated but compact, so good for a short stay. The ensuite was cleverly designed to fit hand basin, shower and toilet into a small space. Bed comfortable and nice towels and herbal hand / shower wash. TV working with UK free to air channels. Good Wi-fi and tea kettle and china mugs. Good food in the whisky bar and live music too on the night I was there, though I'd suggest they switch off some of the harsh halogen lights to create a cosier ambience and encourage you to linger longer! The room window was also locked and I suggest the owner unlocks them so that guests can ventilate with the fresh West Highland air if they wish... No socket in ensuite. Officially nowhere to store luggage after the early checkout time but staff let me leave a suitcase in the bar and keep the outside key until midday, which was welcome. Recommended"

"Hotel very clean room spacious and comfortable, bed a bit soft however personal opinion and still slept well, robe, slippers in room, tea and coffee making facilities with assorted teas and biscuits and complimentary bottled water. didn’t have breakfast but had evening meal, it was delicious and price very reasonable, location of hotel could not be better, harbour and train station across the road. Complimentary 30 minute steam and sauna, with two heated loungers, foot spa was not working but made use of the others, we indulged in massage and afternoon tea for two, ultimate in luxury massage tailored to our needs and afternoon tea takes account of dietary requirements, we were left to enjoy the afternoon with no rush in the comfortable lounge. The staff were really friendly with Summer and Hayden given special mention."
