Tucked into 84 private acres of rolling pasture, hardwood forest, and bold creeks, our handcrafted Treehouse Cabin offers a story-book escape in Ashe County, North Carolina. We recently became the stewards of this mountain haven and still welcome guests to the original Farmhouse cabin (VRBO #376235, six years of five-star reviews). The Treehouse perches on its own ridge, giving you an entirely different perspective on the same magical property. The cabin is a 24-by-24-foot post-and-beam studio built with pine milled on site and treasures reclaimed from antique barns and salvage shops. Three stained-glass panels trace the colors of a Blue Ridge sunset, while a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows pulls the forest right inside. Original art and handmade touches abound: an apple-tree-stump vanity, a vintage claw-foot tub perfectly placed beside a picture window for twilight soaks, and a wood stove that glows on cool mountain nights. Reliable Wi-Fi, a well-equipped kitchenette, and hotel-quality linens ensure comfort without sacrificing the off-grid feel. Life on the farm is relaxed and hands-on. Stroll the pastures to greet the chickens, then collect fresh eggs each morning from the Gypsy Chick Inn, our cheerful gypsy-wagon coop. Wander miles of marked trails through meadows and along the creek, lounge in a hammock next to the 4 ponds beneath towering poplars. The hosts thought of every little detail. When we arrived the treehouse was warm and cozy with holiday music playing softly in the background with a cinnamon bun and dog treat waiting for us on the counter. The home was decorated beautifully for Christmas and every bit of comfort was there if needed. The home was well stocked with anything you could need. The beds were so comfy and even had adjustable heaters for each person! The 83 acres of land were breathtaking and made you feel so relaxed just taking in the beautiful scenery. We visited West Jefferson and Lansing to shop and eat and enjoy drinks at the Old Barn Winery, Molley Chompers and a few of the local restaurants and breweries. I highly recommend staying at any of the properties here on there land. We will definitely be back in the spring to explore more!! Tucked away on 84 acres the treehouse is a perfect mix of rustic charm and modern convenience. It was super clean and equipped with everything we need for a perfect anniversary weekend. Enjoyed our morning coffee on the back deck and loved making s’mores on the bonfire on the chilly mountain evenings. The hosts were amazing and super responsive to our inquires. This was my second stay at the treehouse cabin and I will most definitely be back again. Everything about it is beautiful and cozy, and there’s just something magical about being there on the mountain. The surrounding mountain property is gorgeous and so much fun to explore. And the nearby town and restaurants were a big plus. Plenty of outdoor things to do nearby as well, but really you don’t even need to leave the property to hike and have a wonderful outdoor experience. The place and property looked beautiful from the pictures, sometimes that can be deceiving, however I was absolutely blown away. The photos don’t do it justice. I would like to start out by saying the hosts (Ken & Courtney) were very welcoming and thoughtful, that’s very apparent from the moment to you step into the treehouse. The property is absolutely breathtaking and so very peaceful. My favorite rental I have ever stayed in BY FAR. I really could go on and on about this rental but it would be useless because nothing I can write would do it justice. 10/10 recommend. You’ll leave with your battery recharged and heart full of love. Also, an enriching experience for your fur babies. I’ve ever seen mine happier! I’ve been delayed in reviewing our stay at the Tree House because in my mind, we’re still there! Talk about relaxing, a true getaway, even though we were active from sun up to sun down. Everything about our stay was perfect. Ken was the ultimate communicator, so friendly, accommodating, and available for any questions. He and his wife, plus their children, greeted us upon arrival and during our stay and even shared her homemade bread! The area is beautiful, 84 acres that felt like it was all ours. We brought our two small, apartment dwelling dogs with us and they’ve never been happier. The pictures of the property give a really accurate depiction of the property, but nothing compares to being there! We’ve gushed over the Tree House to anyone who will listen and are planning to go back again. Thanks again, Ken!
