The best area to stay in Lari is right in the village centre, particularly around the Plaza de Armas.

This central area is the heart of Lari, where you'll find the most amenities and the easiest access to local life. The main square is dominated by the beautiful Santiago Apóstol Church, an impressive historic-era building. The streets immediately surrounding the Plaza de Armas are where the limited accommodation options are located, alongside small shops and eateries serving local cuisine. It's a compact and walkable area, superb for experiencing the village's everyday rhythm.

Couples looking for a quiet and authentic Andean experience will find the village centre ideal. It offers a chance to disconnect and enjoy the local culture, with opportunities for gentle strolls through the village and interaction with residents. The proximity to the church and the main square means you're always just steps away from the village's focal points.

For travellers interested in exploring the Colca Canyon's less-visited areas, staying in Lari provides a convenient and peaceful base.

The best time to visit Lari is during the dry season, which runs from April to November, as this period offers the most pleasant weather for exploring the Colca Canyon.

During these months, you can expect clear skies, plenty of sunshine, and comfortable temperatures, making it ideal for hiking and enjoying the stunning landscapes. The lack of rain also means that the trails are generally in excellent condition. This is particularly good for those planning to trek to places like the Mirador Cruz del Condor, where the views of the canyon and condors are unobstructed.

For travellers who enjoy outdoor activities and want to make the most of the region's natural beauty, the dry season is definitely the prime time.
