Lisa's property was perfect for a winter weekend away from the city. The river was running and beautiful to sit next to, and we used the outdoor firepit and indoor fireplace to make everything really cosy. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen completely equipped for any kind of cooking we wanted to do.
Great place to kick back and relax. Quiet, Comfortable, ideal if you want to getaway from the day to day hassle of a busy lifestyle. Surrounding nature is beautiful.
Lots of thought has gone in to the amenities and made for an easy stay. The host was very prompt and helpful with communications.
The property is close to the highway, and regular truck traffic is a bit noisy, but the river is a very nice distraction.
The description of the property is perfectly accurate. It is like being at a private spa, in a beautiful, heritage style building, complete with stain glass windows, a wood stove, and a charming little cat door to the basement. Lisa is an excellent host, who thinks of every last detail to make the stay luxurious and welcoming. Will definitely go back.
We were in the the area helping look after family, and needed a wee break over the holiday's.Lucky for us this beautiful home was available. The cottage was decorated beautifully.A tree, lots of sparkly lights, inside and outside. The fireplace made everything cozy and warm.Everything you need and more is here for you....everything.Then there's the property.A path by the river than runs along the whole property thats filled with Hemlock's. Heaven!!!Thank you again for making our holiday's brighter.
Easy to get to and located in a beautiful spot along the river. Loved hearing the water constantly and the view from down by the water is so beautiful. Everything was spotless and very beautifully decorated. Beds were very comfortable. Almost everything we could need was provided.
Our group spent most of the day sitting by the fire pit and listening to the river. If it was a little warmer out at night we woukd have made use of the huge screened in cabana. Woukd love to sleep out there in the summer.
Had one issue with connecting to the WiFi, but that was because one letter was not written correctly. The password in the binder did the trick and we were able to connect. There is also quite a lot of traffic on the road but it's very quiet at night.
Gorgeous in the fall and would definitely stay here again. The host was very responsive and supplied a very informative guide on the table at arrival as well as a surprise treat.
Although road out front is busy, the back is very nice, lovely little deck and wonderful pavilion. Some nice nature trails near by. Dogs had fun watching the cows across the road!
It was amazing! We all had a great time, the cottage is gorgeous and the water is even better!! There was spots for the older kids to play and a nice little area for the younger ones! Thank you so much!!!
This property is close to the road but far outweighed by the excellent enclosed gazebo behind the house. The house is very nice and kitchen well equiped. I would definitely stay here again.
This is a beautiful and cozy cottage, perfect for families with older kids or teens especially. The great room is perfect for making big meals and visiting around the table or curled up on the comfy couches. The beds are extremely comfortable as well. We would definitely stay here again.
We loved our family new year celebration in lanark highlands despite the constant rain that was happening. This is a beautiful spot and would be spectacular in the summer. The home is very comfortable for a group of 6 and fully equipped.
Our second stay at the cottage was just as wonderful as our first! The cottage is beautiful, comfortable and has everything we need (and more!) From sunny yoga in the sunroom, to epic air hockey tournaments and relaxed meals and deep restorative sleep, it’s perfection. The outdoor setting is fantastic. Exploring the banks of the river, with the rushin water, snowy trees and even wildlife (we saw a river otter!), it’s the best way to appreciate the beauty of winter.
My sister and friends and I all went to this gorgeous property for a weekend artists' retreat. When we weren't hanging out in the gorgeous outdoor space (so many wonderful mature trees on the property!), we cooked many excellent meals in the full kitchen and watched romantic comedies thanks to the small but mighty supply of DVDs available. No need to bring your own cookpot (the way I did!) as there are several large saucepans available. Also, be sure to check the closets in the master bedroom: there's a hidden half bath in one of them! (We didn't find it until half the group had already left, haha) You'll fall in love with the reading nook that overlooks the north part of the property and the park bench down by the river, where all you can hear is the river rapids and the wind in the trees. If I had infinite money I'd probably live here myself! What a wonderful experience--you won't regret your stay!
We went for a ladies' winter cottage weekend. We were definitely impressed with this vacation rental. It was very clean (not a dusty old cottage), well appointed (hotel quality towels, nice touches like lotion and bubble bath liquid), comfortable beds and pillows, a dishwasher and a jacuzzi bathtub. The cottage is larger than anticipated, with lots of seating. The kitchen is well equipped as we did lots of cooking. The wood stove is a wonderful component of the cottage and fire starter supplies are provided. Don't forget to go downstairs to check out the games room which has an air hockey table, a ping pong table and some board games. The host is very responsive and helpful, particularly when it came to sending someone over to plow the driveway after a snowstorm. Overall it's a well maintained cottage. The location is right off the main road, but since it's quite rural there aren't many cars passing by. It also means easy access in the winter, no concerns about getting up unplowed side roads. The backyard is on a river. The cottage is about 30 minutes from Almonte - Mill Street there is great for exploring antique shops and there are restaurants as well.
