Find hotels in La Ensenada from £39

The best area to stay in La Ensenada is generally along the beachfront, particularly around the main resort properties.

This area offers direct access to the Caribbean Sea, with many hotels and guesthouses located right on the sand. You'll find a relaxed atmosphere here, with the sound of the waves ever-present. The main road, Carretera La Ceiba-Tela, runs parallel to the beach, making it easy to get around.

For couples seeking a tranquil escape, staying directly on the beachfront is ideal. You'll have beautiful views, opportunities for long walks along the shore, and easy access to water activities like swimming or snorkelling. Many properties in this area offer private balconies and beachfront dining experiences.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the convenience of beachfront accommodation. Kids can play in the sand and sea just steps from their rooms, and many resorts offer facilities like swimming pools and organised activities.

The best time to visit La Ensenada is during the dry season, which runs from February to May, for the most consistently pleasant weather.

During these months, you'll experience lower humidity and less rainfall, making it ideal for enjoying the beaches, exploring the nearby Pico Bonito National Park, and participating in outdoor activities. The sea conditions are also generally calmer, which is superb for snorkelling, diving, and boat trips. This period is particularly good for families looking for reliable sunshine for beach holidays.

Another excellent time to visit is from November to January. While this is technically the beginning of the dry season, you might still encounter occasional showers. However, the temperatures are very comfortable, and the landscape is lush and green from the preceding rainy season. This time of year is excellent for couples seeking a more tranquil experience, as it's just before the peak tourist rush, offering a more relaxed atmosphere.

Ultimately, for guaranteed sunshine and outdoor activities, aim for February to May.
