"A wonderful lodge for the last night in France 🇫🇷 we wish we could have stayed longer.
My children loved the little hide away bedroom and the roll top bath.
Clemence offered an excellent dinner recommendation at a local craft beer tap room. The food was divine! As was the beer.
We would highly recommend this accommodation."

Clean and functional room with air conditioning. Towels and soap included. No kettle for hot drinks. A pay for hot & cold drinks / snack machine in the foyer. A good selection of continental breakfast with excellent coffee / hot drinks dispenser. Friendly staff with reasonable / good English. A clean hotel with plenty of parking. Easy to find on outskirts of Saint Lo. There was an ok Italian restaurant next door and a grill restaurant on the same block. A McDonald restaurant near by.

Lovely breakfast and the owner/host was very friendly and helpful. Located in very quiet countryside.
Bed very comfortable and slept well and property very clean.
Our labrador didn't like the open stairs and so had to carry her, but very pet friendly.

Amazing, comfortable, immaculate, modern and spacious, an absolute gem within a quiet, historic, picturesque setting with welcoming and friendly hosts. Truly great breakfast featuring local produce. Town, museums and restaurants a short drive away.

The hotel was a chateau which had been completely refurbished about a year ago. Restaurant was great as was the breakfast. However the room we chose was a de lux garden view room but was far from being a garden view it looked over the court yard. The manager did offer to change our room the second night but as we were only there 2 nights I declined but he did treat us to cocktails so no complaints. The bedrooms are large with a great walk in monsoon showers but the bed although king size was...

Beautiful place - very clean and comfortable. Probably the most comfortable bed over an 18 night tour. Owner is very helpful and polite - lovely breakfast provided by him. Have stayed here before and came back which is a recommendation in itself. Five stars.

Very quiet location but near enough to the Normandy beaches and ferry terminal at Caen.
We had a lovely big bedroom and en-suite in Tom's well renovated home.
All the breakfast options were tempting but we went down the croissant, pain au chocolat, crusty bread route.
Tom was very friendly and attentive. We hope to return when next in the area.

A quiet, well-being, professional, horse loving retreat from the demands of our busy life around London.
The views, room, healthy locally sourced meals and care in presentation are a delight.
Highly recommended as a time for Oneself. The Spa and Salt water pool were an integral part of our relaxing time here. We will definitely be returning! Thank you Vanessa and Jean-William of,

What a find - a beautiful chateau in lovely gardens and surroundings. Lovely big bedroom and bathroom with robes, slippers, fluffy towels & good selection of toiletries, comfy bed. The breakfast was amazing & possibly the best we’ve ever had. It was served by a very friendly lady starting with a fresh beautifully presented fruit salad. I had freshly cooked scrambled eggs followed by continental breakfast with delicious pastries & croissants etc. We hope to return one day!

Our stay at Le Clos St Jean was wonderful! Caroline and Laurent are friendly and warm, and they take good care of the property and their guests. I was blown away by the beauty of their place. The fresh, warm croissants, pastries, bread, yogurts, cheese, and fruit, along with the local juices and jams, made for a wonderful breakfast. I only wish we would have had more time to spend relaxing in their lovely space. If I find myself in Normandy again, I will definitely have to stay here another...

What is the best area to stay in La Barre-De-Semilly?
The best area to stay in La Barre-De-Semilly is the village centre itself, particularly for those who appreciate a quiet, rural setting with convenient access to local amenities.
This small, peaceful village offers a quintessential Norman countryside experience. It's characterised by traditional stone houses, a historic church, and a general store. The main street, Rue de l'Eglise, runs through the heart of the village, providing a focal point for local life. You'll find it's a very walkable area for exploring the immediate surroundings.

When is the best time to go to La Barre-De-Semilly?
The best time to visit La Barre-De-Semilly is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) months.
During these periods, the weather is generally pleasant with mild temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the Normandy countryside and its historical sites. Families might find the summer months of July and August appealing due to school holidays, but should be prepared for more visitors and potentially higher prices.
