To the southeast of Kyotanabe, just 12 miles away, you will find the city of Nara.
From Kyotanabe, it's 14 miles to the nearby city of Kyōto. Don't forget to visit Kiyomizu Temple and Kyoto Imperial Palace, a few of the iconic hotspots here.
Go on a day trip to Seika. It's only 4 miles to the south of Kyotanabe. Nara National Museum and Kofuku-ji Shrine are two of the best choices. Also head to Toshodai-ji Temple.

It's worth taking the family to Kizugawa, a regional hub located 6 miles to the southeast of Kyotanabe. This area boasts plenty of tourist attractions, including Kasuga Shrine, Nara Park and Ukimido Park. Gango-ji Temple and Naramachi Mechanical Toy Museum are some additional popular places if you have enough time.
