Redelijk hotel

Pros: Redelijk hotel
Location: Dicht bij het strand. Goede bescherming van de politie. Makkelijke verbinding met de binnenstad.
Voor deze prijs een redelijk hotel. Schoon, mooi uitzicht op het strand en een uitgebreid ontbijt. Het personeel is niet zo vriendelijk en geeft weinig service. Toen ik vroeg om een telefoonverbinding met Nederland kon dat zogenaamd. Toch een voldoende voor dit hotel

Pros: Service sehr zuvorkommend, z.B. auch individuell bei late check-out
Location: Belebtester Strandabschnitt Beachfront Durban
Hotelinfrastruktur aus den 70er Jahre, daher alles etwas groß, dunkel und gediegen gehalten. Dafür Service aber unerwartet gut und zuvorkommend. Late Check out wurde ermöglicht trotz recht guter Auslastung. Der Strandabschnitt ist nicht der angenehmste zu Weihnachten, Ostern und an Sommerwochenenden da er an die Amüsierzone grenzt. Ansonsten ok.

OK for Durban

Pros: Easy to find on sea front, overall staff, breakfast
Location: Centre of Durban bit like Blackpool. Good for Cricket or other sporting venues. I Much prefer North or South of central Durban otherwise
Hotel fine, staff helpful but some more competent than others. Breakfast good. If you like Durban most of bars, a lot of stalls and activities nearby

The Hotel is old, and has not been updated or maintained to the best of its ability. Staff are friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast is excellent

very disappointing - the bathroom door would not close. Four booked in but was only given two bath towels, had to phone housekeeping for towels everyday. shower water was always cold.

We stayed at Tropicana for two nights. Generally the stay was of reasonable comfort. The hotel is near the beach and the view of the beach was just beautiful from our rooms. The only thing that made the stay a bit uncomfortable was the inability to access something to drink during the night. For the period of our stay, there was a jug and two glasses with no fresh water. At night we could not get fresh cold water and could not buy something to drink as the kitchen/bar was closed. We left the hotel in the early hours of the morning to go and buy something to drink at shops nearby the hotel. It would really assist if the hotel can at least invest in bar fridges.

Like peace and quiet? Avoid.

I stayed here for four nights between Christmas and New Year's and was extremely disappointed. The noise level was like nothing I've ever encountered at a hotel anywhere in the world. Not only was there near-constant loud music coming from the beach across the street to contend with but also the carrying-on of fellow guests, none of whom seemed particularly concerned with the havoc their children were wreaking in the halls. Now, I don't hate children, but I would like to walk down the stairs without having to step over them. Hotel staff literally shrugged their shoulders when I asked them to address this. My room on the third floor needed some serious deep cleaning (particularly of the carpets). The only positives I can give are: the breakfasts were quite good and the housekeeping staff delightful.
