9/10 Wonderful! (140 reviews)
Considering the cost, and the 5 star property label, Rythm was very disappointing. The staff could not speak even basic english and it was very challenging to communicate with them. We tried to go to the spa ( advertised to open at 8am per the brochure) but the staff on duty at 8:45 could not communicate in english, hindi or tamil; only in Malayalam, which made conveying our ask quite challenging. The staff were nice enough, I am sure, but did/could not make us feel welcome due to the language barrier. The staff at the reception spoke some sparse english. I am not a language snob, but for a property to make its guests feel welcome, basic communication skills are the bare minimum. The property itself was decent, the patio was nice to sit in, breakfast was ok ( again the service staff there, zero english! ), but for vegetarians, communicating our asks was a challenge. We then stayed at the Taj for 3 days and the experience was starkly different; but that's a separate review.

We had a wonderful stay at SpiceTree Munnar. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating or hospitable, and we are very grateful for their kindnesses. The food was top-tier - our deepest thanks to Chef Pandiyan. We loved the complimentary activities that were offered. The location was amazing, secluded but easily navigable to the beautiful landscapes of Idukki and Munnar all around. The room was luxurious, with all its amenities and that spectacular view to wake up to.
