Roode Döör

Are you ready for a little taste of the sea? Then our Roode Döör studio apartment in Krummhörn welcomes you. Behind the red door (Low German: roode Döör), a lovingly and uniquely designed 60-square-meter holiday apartment awaits you. You’ll have your own entrance, your own parking spot, and you’ll reach your temporary home on the ground floor via a staircase. Here, you can sleep either in the cosy beds in the bedroom or in the “Butze”—a converted mini-loft accessible via a ladder. Please note that children may only use the Butze under supervision! A portable cot is available upon request. Additionally, the sofa in the living area can be converted into a sleeping area. So, when things get hectic, up to 5 people can find refuge behind the red door!

As a native of Krummhörn, I love living here so much and so fully that in 2025 I decided to share this love with our guests as well. De Roode Döör is an apartment where I myself love to be at home, and I hope my guests feel the same way!

De Roode Döör is located in the village of Grimersum, one of 19 beautiful pile-dwelling villages in Krummhörn, just a stone’s throw from the picturesque fishing village of Greetsiel and the North Sea dike. The market town of Pewsum, with its wide variety of shopping options, is just a few minutes away; here you can find everything you need for daily life—and a little bit more. In Norddeich, 18 kilometres away, ferries depart for the offshore islands of Norderney and Juist, and in Emden, the AG Ems sets sail for an excursion to Borkum.
