Avoid this well used rental that has had minimal maintenance and attention. Needs thorough cleaning.
The good:
-Bathrooms & bed linens basically clean
The bad:
-Kitchen handles sticky
-Microwave handle broken off
-Microwave full of grease underneath & filters dirty
-Kitchen lacked cutlery. 4 drinking glasses and plastic wine glasses
-Doors & doorknobs need cleaning
-Master bedroom dresser needs to be replaced
-Tall cabinet not anchored to wall and tipped forward
-The mattress cover in the 3rd bedroom is torn
-Light fixtures have burned out light bulbs
-Bathroom fan covers filthy (we washed them)
-Light in the shower not working nor the lights under the microwave
-Garage smells
The worst:
Arrived at 8 pm to find the power had been disconnected due to non-payment of account. Called the owner- no answer; voice mailbox had not even been setup. Sent a message. Called VRBO who said we needed to wait 3 hours for the owner to respond. That would be past midnight. Insisted on a hotel. VRBO booked/paid 2 rooms. Owner called, said hydro will be restored that night. Still no power in the morning. Once power restored smoke alarms were beeping. Got them to stop but they started again at 2 am. We were sixty-something year olds standing on chairs at 2 am.
VRBO refunded their service fee at no cost to the owner. Owner and I agreed to refund 1 night (more than fair), but now he is complaining about paying hotel and not making money on our stay. Only cares about $ and profit, has no empathy.
