It is located in the quiet village of Dysart. The apartment is based in a restored Period building across the first and second floor. On the first floor there is a spacious living/dining area, with a large dining table that seats 6, plenty of comfortable seating where you can relax and take in the breath-taking views out to sea. Within the living room there is a Smart TV with DVD player, a selection of DVD’s and books. The lounge area has one armchair and a four-seater sofa, the sofa is also a double sofa bed. A washing machine/dryer is located in a cupboard off the living room. Off the living room is a well-equipped kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and fridge. Within the kitchen you will find all of the essentials that you would need in a kitchen, including tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper. On the upper floor is a comfortable double bedroom with sloped ceiling and lovely sea views. The bed can be made up as a super-king bed or two singles. (Please confirm which set up you would like when booking), within the bedroom there is also a full single bed set up. Should you also need a cot/high-chair these are available on request. There is also a modern bathroom with toilet, sink and shower on the upper level next to the bedroom. Freshly-laundered towels and bed-linen are all provided. This is a non-smoking property and we do not allow pets. The property is based up a set of stone steps and there are stairs within the property. There is no lift access. There is plenty of parking on the street outside the apartment and on the high street behind the property. (The additional single bed in the bedroom and the sofa bed / armchair in the living room is new and new photos will be uploaded shortly). Just a few minutes away at Dysart Harbour, some key scenes from Outlander was filmed. John McDouall Stuart View is an ideal stopping-off point if you are en-route to the Highlands, looking for close links to Fife's world-famous golf courses, or walking the Fife Coastal Path. The apartment is owned by Fife Historic Buildings Trust, a local Building Preservation Trust. It is a company limited by guarantee and has charitable status. It was formed in 1997 primarily for the purpose of saving and restoring historic buildings in Fife which are at risk. We are very proud of our beautiful historic building and would love to welcome you here. John McDouall Stuart was born in this house in 1815 and later emigrated ‘down under’ where he led the first expedition to cross Australia from south to north in 1862\. He is a celebrated figure in Australia, where he has a 950-mile highway named after him. The holiday apartment occupies the upper two floors of a three-storey B-listed building. The rooms have been decorated in keeping with the style of the building, retaining period features, such as the window shutters. It was exactly as described in the listing with a parking space a few yards away and marvellous views over the Firth of Forth. We had a problem with the TV, which I understand has been rectified, but otherwise everything worked well, especially the heating which we needed! Highlights of our week were Ravenscraig Park and Castle, walks along the coast path and trips to Arbroath (by train), St Andrew's and Stirling (by car). We enjoyed meals out in The Wee Restaurant, N Queensferry, The Seafood Restaurant, St Andrews and, especially, Sangsters in Elie. I'd recommend JMS house to anyone who doesn't mind stairs and I'd gladly stay there again. ##### Sarah G. Den Neugierigen begegnet große Vielfalt. Moderne, helle Wohnung in altem Gemäuer bei passender Einrichtung mit herrlichem Blick über den Firth of Forth auf Edinburgh, ansprechende Orte mit historischem Flair sowie beeindruckende Herrenhäuser und Gärten in der Umgebung, weitläufig hügelige Landschaft bei schnell wechselnder Wetterlage. Nur wenige Meter zum (kleinen) Supermarkt, nur wenige Schritte zum Coastal Path. Manchmal hört man den Fernseher von unten, aber das Schlafzimmer im 1\. OG ist ruhig und das Bett komfortabel. Has great character. Very well equipped flat, great for a couple. Flat itself up a flight of stairs as is the 1 bathroom, for us it was fine and the house has kept its character. Great waking up in the morning and looking over to the sea. Would love to come back some time. Thanks to the owners for their thoughtfulness-great to find bread and milk plus a bottle of wine on arriving. Flat is near public transport too (bus stop) ##### Linda G. Wir waren zwei Wochen in dieser sehr schön renovierten Altbau - Wohnung. In der Wohnung ist alles enthalten WLAN, Fernseher, komplett eingerichtete Küche, von Waschmaschine/Trocknerkombi bis hin zur Geschirrspülmaschine alles da. Geschirr völlig ausreichend, das Schlafzimmer ist mit einem sehr guten Bett und Matratzen ausgestattet. Das Bad reicht mit Dusche völlig aus. Es ist sehr sehr ruhig und so gut wie kein Verkehr in den Straßen unterwegs. Das Meer ist ein paar Meter weg und das Fischerörtchen Dysart lädt zum Entspannen ein. Für uns war es ein Startpunkt bis hoch in den Norden zu fahren bzw. an die Westküste. Anfangs hatten wir auf dem Flughafen Probleme da mein Koffer nicht ankam und wir die Unterlagen für den Mietwagen dadurch nicht hatten. Beth hatte uns hier sehr geholfen, dafür nochmals recht herzlichen Dank. Insgesamt hatten wir von hier knapp 2800 Meilen mit dem Mietwagen zurückgelegt. Sehr schön war auch dass gerade mal 4 Meilen entfernt in Kirkaldy am Meer täglich Robben zu sehen sind. Land und Menschen sehr sehr freundlich und immer Hilfsbereit. Wir sagen jedenfalls nochmals vielen Dank für die schönen Tage in dieser Wohnung. ##### Manfred K. Stayed 13 nights in Jun 2018 Verified ### 10/10 Excellent #### Doris T. 7 Jun 2018 #### Super Stützpunkt für Ausflüge Eine schöne, gut ausgestattete Ferienwohnung in einem historischen Gebäude, in ruhiger Lage, nahe am Meer. Sehr netter Empfang mit einem Strauß Blumen auf dem Tisch, Brot, Milch und Wein sicherten die erste Verpflegung. Beth war über die Fewo-App sehr schnell erreichbar und reagierte prompt. Auch bei kleinen Problemen, die nichts mit der Wohnung zu tun hatten, bemühte sie sich zu helfen. Das fand ich sehr toll. Im Vorfeld haben wir die Adressen von Supermärkten in Kirkcaldy erhalten, was sehr hilfreich war. Da der Eingang und das Schlafzimmer nur über Treppen erreichbar sind, ist dies die einzige Einschränkung für Menschen, die Probleme damit haben. Ansonsten sehr empfehlenswert. Von Dysart aus kann man gut verschiedene Landesteile erreichen. Die Scottish Borders bis Melrose und Jedburgh, die Gegend von Aberdeen und Pitlochry und Trochsass Nationalpark mit Loch Lomond, Loch Katrine und Loch Leven. Und in Fife gibt es natürlich auch viel zu sehen. Wir haben einen tollen Schottland-Urlaub dort verbracht. ##### Doris T.
