The hot springs, including private ones, are amazing (and sulphurous), and so are the views from the hotel. The food is simple and good, both at dinner and at breakfast. On the other hand, rooms have cheesy smell to them, probably from mold; wifi is very weak.
Friendly staff; free shuttle service; providing sweet lovely gift; enjoy three different kinds of private bath (hot spring); lots of choices for Yukata (they are all so lovely)
Very peaceful and quiet. Very good hot spring baths and the food was outstanding. Staff was very courteous and provided transportation to and from the hotel and bus stop.
The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hot springs have many choices and are quite unique. The forest trails near the hotel give travelers an alternative experience, and they can also see wild deer. The hotel is integrated with nature. Dinner and breakfast were both very good and we had a pleasant evening here.
Hotel has a very stunning view, food are tasty, room is neat & clean, staff are very very nice, onsan is really really perfect & relax, we have a very wonderful night here, will definitely choose to stay here next time. Many many thx to the little gift when we left the hotel.
Hotel style property, a little larger than I expected. A bit dated. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room with futons. Overall the room was great, but the futons were the hardest, least comfortable of the trip. Meals however were excellent, and we very much enjoyed the outdoor baths.
Peaceful & relaxing environment which is wonderful.
Staff are polite & helpful.
Breakfast is good but dinner’s portion is insufficient even for a normal diet lady. Seems guests must order additional dishes to make up a full dinner.
Should be even better in case there is routine shuttle bus schedule taking guests to area near tourists centre.

Amazing experience but a bit odd… we took public transportation which I would not recommend. It took most of the day to get to from Fukuoka. With bad storms, the local train service was temporarily cancelled. Given we had no car and the ground was very wet there was nothing to do but stay put. The hotel staff was very friendly and tried to help us navigate our journey back. The onsen experience was our first and was amazing. Overall the property is very dated and sleepy. The food was disappointing but the dining room views were stunning!
We saw a family of deer leisurely having their breakfast while we enjoying hot springs in the forest , our breakfast tasty and rich for enough to fill up , the most thoughtful touch was that they prepared fragrant, still warm onsen eggs and water for us when we check out, it was truly heartwarming. Thank you very much!
A very special Ryokan....a great place to experience Japanese hospitality, culture, food, onsen, and wonderful opportunity to see/ hike in Kirishima National Park with 20 volcanoes.
One of the best and most pleasant experiences. It’s such a great stay on all aspects, and very affordable too. Already thinking we will be back again soon!
The check in process and the follow up since the reservation made were excellent. The reception when we arrived was 10/10 perfect. If there were a rating of 11/10, I will use that.

The dinner set quality has room to improve and onsen amenities are not sufficient and with little varieties.
This was our last stay on our 28 day holiday in Japan and was a wonderful way to finish. Our room on the 3rd floor had a wonderful view, despite Sakurajima being mostly hidden for the 3 days we were there. Staff were all very helpful and friendly and many of them spoke a little bit of English. The kaiseki dinners provided an excellent variety but an english menu would have been helpful. We experienced 2 of the 4 private onsens available on site. There was no additional fee for this, but they book out very quickly, particularly in the evening. There is a toilet and shower in the room, but the hot water is very slow to arrive, so shower at the onsen's is the recommended option. This was an excellent secluded location to enjoy hiking in the Kirishima Kinkowan NP or a day trip to Kagoshima.
