"The staff were excellent and very attentive, always going the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. In particular Erik and Daisy. Also, Anifah who was always happy and pleasant, when we checked out at 10am she gave us an extra room to shower in after we used the pool facilities as our flight wasn’t until later in the day she also made sure we were still able to have lunch after checking out. Something i would recommend is to create a bigger outside bar and also add more alcoholic drinks to the all inclusive cocktail menu. Also the food was very nice and varied every day however, i think more effort should be made to properly cover some food items as they were often swarmed with flies, for example the desserts and fruits. The rooms were cleaned to the highest of standards every morning and the cleaners never failed to say good morning. I would also recommend riziki the hotels taxi driver to anyone needing to travel outside the resort area, he was very friendly and informative. "

"This resort seemed to be well planned. Our room was quiet with little traffic past our door. The pools were very nice, clean, easily accessible and always staffed. The grounds were tidy and charming with geckos and monkeys frequenting us as we rested or walked. Loads of trees. and flowering plants and shrubs. It would have been informative if the plants etc. were labeled in some way especially if it was a Kenyan or east African exclusive species. We booked a Safari and city tour with the lodges expedition department. Both were excellent. The tour guides had excellent English (as do most of the staff), exciting and informative. The city tour really had lots packed in and getting to it all was a testament to our driver! Traffic in Mombasa is really an experience to Canadians. It really must be experienced from a back seat to keep us from having panic attacks every block. But there were no accidents any where we traveled!! I leave the dining experience to the end because it was a daily gastronomic delight. The food and staff both excellent, entertaining and delightful. Lecious and Eunice and Ruth, to name a few, made our daily trips through the buffet memorable. We thank everyone of the staff at the Severin Sea Lodge for a wonderful holiday experience."

"We had a lovely, relaxing stay at Kobe Suites. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. It is a well-designed hotel on the best stretch of beach in Watamu which is also part of the nature reserve. When we dined in, the food and drink was excellent and moderately priced. "

"We stayed in a 2 bed apartment which was well appointed and extremely spacious with a huge balcony (sadly not much sun as facing east) but overlooking the Indian Ocean. The bathrooms were good though beginning to look a little tired otherwise the apartment was fabulous. Plenty of bottled water provided each day and milk, tea and coffee (instant only). Substantial breakfast with plenty of options provided each morning. Lovely little coffee shop selling variety of cakes and muffins, coffee etc and range of smoothies. Hemingways bar fabulous spot for sundowner. Main restaurant was offering a buffet every night we were there but also à la carte, which in our opinion was the better option - and less expensive if you don’t have a huge appetite (buffet was ksh4,500 pp vs eg 3800 for huge freshly grilled king prawns and accompaniments or 1800 for delicious freshly cooked catch of the day). The pools were very clean (one main, one child’s and one quiet pool) and the pool staff attentive. There isn’t a beach to sit on though you can access beach to walk along. Gardens were delightful and well kept. All the staff we dealt with were charming and friendly and made us very welcome. We stayed in July and it was extremely windy (though I liked this as humidity reduced) and a lot of seaweed on the beach. We also used the gym which was well appointed, good a/c and I was allowed to borrow a yoga mat for my stay so I could do yoga on the peace of my balcony overlooking the ocean: nameste!"
