All making this the best choice for Kihei beachfront rentals on Maui. Your vacation starts here! This top-floor, Kihei holiday condo has a panoramic ocean view and sits up above popular Keawakapu Beach. Wake to the sounds of the ocean waves lapping at the sandy beach below. Then grab your coffee and step out on your private lanai to relax before your beautiful morning beach stroll. Rent a kayak and paddle out to view turtles and even humpback whales in the winter months. After working up an appetite, pop in and enjoy brunch oceanfront at the onsite restaurant before taking a much-deserved nap under the shade of the palm trees just steps away. Follow with an afternoon dip in the ocean, including snorkeling just feet from turtles (stay a minimum of 10 feet away from the Honu) and tropical fish. Then close out the daylight by watching the sun drop into the Pacific from the shoreline of your Kihei vacation condo, or from your top-floor lanai while sipping your favorite beverage. Can you think of a more perfect day than this and all within moments of this Mana Kai rental! If you wanted to end the night with a nice homemade dinner, the kitchen is fully stocked and ready for the home chef to whip up a meal fit for King Kamehameha himself. All appliances, cookware, service wares, and dishes are provided. As you ready for bed, there are 2 options for sleeping quarters. The primary suite is ocean-facing and is set up as an 'open concept' studio with the living areas and king bed open to each other. In this space, you can lie in bed and watch the moonlight reflect off the ocean as you drift asleep. Or you can click on your favorite TV show and watch until your eyes get heavy. A full bathroom with large vanity and tiled shower is just opposite the bed. The guest room also has ocean and mountain views facing West and is situated just off the entry hall. It has its own en-suite bathroom with tub/shower combo and offers a queen bed. Both rooms and the living space each have their own ductless AC units. There is dining inside at the breakfast bar and dining al fresco at the table with seating for 4 on the lanai. If you are thinking of Maui vacation rentals then choose Mana Kai Resort, Kihei beachfront condo, for the perfect Hawaiian retreat! The resort atmosphere includes an oceanfront pool, two propane BBQs, onsite coin laundry facilities on each floor, free parking, fitness center, business center, activities center, and a general store. Mana Kai will continue construction and maintenance effective immediately, including essential concrete repairs near the lobby and restrooms, as well as preparations for the new Beach House at Mana Kai restaurant by Handcrafted Restaurants (Peter Merriman, known for Monkeypod Kitchen, Merriman’s, and others). While we do not have a full schedule or end date yet, work will take place on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no activity on weekends or holidays. Mana Kai is by far the best option out of all of them. Yes, the building was built in the mid 70's, but it has been very well maintained. Key benefits of Mana Kai - nice pool (pool at Surfside next door is tiny!), great location right in front of one of the best beaches in South Maui, on-site grocery / sundry store, on-site beach rental store (including SUP & Kayaks).Now for review of unit 815\. This is a mostly remodeled unit - the main bedroom, living area, kitchen and bathroom have all be updated and they did a nice job - quality finishes & appliances, the bed is comfortable. The second bedroom / bathroom leave a lot to be desired - the bed is not comfortable at all, and that second bathroom hasn't been remodeled - it is clean and functional, but the sink countertop is VERY low. Why they did not remodel the whole unit baffles me. Overall the unit was clean, no deferred maintenance items. It was missing beach umbrella, which comes in very handy in South Maui. ##### Kai R. The negatives: The first room closest to the front door is a little dingy and its bathroom is very small. Having the 808 Grocery downstairs along with on site rental for equipment makes it so convenient. The restaurant is under renovations and a much needed change. Unit 815 was well appointed with towels, kitchen supplies, clean and exactly as advertised. We unfortunately experienced AC issues that were mentioned in prior comments. The crashing waves are the last thing you hear at night and the first thing you hear in the morning. The unobstructed view from this unit is stunning. Since this unit is on the top floor, the second bedroom also has an unobstructed ocean view unlike lower units that are partially blocked by the neighboring building. Since this is an end unit, there is no walkway outside the second bedroom window so you can leave the curtains open and enjoy the view. (Center units have a walkway and other guests have to walk past your window to get to their units.)This unit was clean and comfortable and beautiful. The kitchen is well stocked with nice quality pans and knives. I cooked dinner three nights and just sat on the lanai to enjoy the sunset.I will definitely seek out this unit next time I have a chance to stay at the Mana Kai. ##### Chuck H. This is a fantastic spot for a vacation. We had a great time. The Room is beautiful and the view is amazing. Even the view from the second bedroom is really awesome. This particular unit gets extra points because the second bedroom has a great view and privacy. The rest of the units in this building the second bedroom window has foot traffic and can be blocked by the elevator/laundry area. The building is mostly very well kept. The laundry shares with the recycling/garbage chute so there were lots of roaches in there, not something we wanted near our laundry so we didn't make use of those facilities. The BBQ facilities are a bit of a headache as you have to reserve ahead of time. That's fine, but the front desk and the maintenance staff don't communicate that well. We and several other guests showed up to BBQ at 7PM one night, we had appointments, but the grills had already been shut down and cleaned for the night. That was a hassle, so do your cooking early. It's all very clean though and that's a big plus on Maui! There are a lot of roosters on property so if you like to sleep bring earplugs! If you are staying with another couple just be aware that there is zero privacy from the main bedroom to the kitchen area, Otherwise it's great and I would stay there again anytime. If you happen to be gluten free, most of the Gluten free options in Kihei are relatively close to this property. That said other than the cinnamon roll place, none of the gluten free options are that great, but there is a health foods store two blocks away with a lot of Gluten free items and the 808 general store/Deli down stairs had gluten free bread and some snacks. It's a very nice deli. The on property surf shop had better prices for rentals than the off property locations which was very convenient. ##### Michael H.
