Tiled throughout, the interior of this upgraded 2 bedroom/2 bath unit is clean and bright with a view that stuns you every time you walk through that front door! The beautiful furnishings and gorgeous granite & stainless-steel kitchen add to the appeal. While you prepare a gourmet meal for dining on your large private lanai, you can gaze out at the incredible blue Pacific and forget all your cares. The master bedroom has a king bed with an en-suite bathroom & large window with more breathtaking ocean views. The second bedroom has twin beds and its own bathroom (walk-in shower), while the living area has a sleeper sofa that makes this unit suitable for up to 6 guests. Flat screen TVs with complimentary cable, WiFi & local phone keep you connected with the outside world; central AC and ceiling fans keep you cool; and an in-unit washer/dryer keeps you clean, conveniently, and ready for anything. Coin-operated laundries on the 3rd & 5th floors near the elevator are convenient. The resort itself is a real gem. Nestled into a quiet and safe community, the vibe here is one of low-key local that lets you know you are in an authentic place, not some theme resort. Centrally located in North Kihei, Kihei Beach Resort is a favorite of return travelers. From here you can venture forth with low commute times (15-45 minutes) to enjoy most of the awesome adventures and attractions Maui has to offer. Two long & winding roads - one to the summit of Haleakala & the other through the rainforest heading to eastside Hana. These are longer treks to places remote, but places not to be missed if one can help it. On days you want to stay close to base, stroll the (almost empty) 3 mile stretch of white-sand shoreline north to Ma’alaea. The resort’s 1.3-acre grounds tempt you to stay and relax by the pool, sunbathe on the beach or claim a lounge chair under a palm tree and read a book. From the grounds & pool you have panoramic, nothing peek-a-boo-about-them coastline views that extend south to the Makena cinder cone, sweep out across the water past Molokini Crater. Neighbor islands Kahoolawe, Lanai and then north to Maalaea Bay with its backdrop of stark white windmills marching up the sharp ridges of the West Maui Mountains. During high season (Dec-April) humpback whales (mamas, babies, and guardian males) find shelter in Maalaea Bay; watching them breach is always thrilling. All year round you will savor spectacular sunrises & sunsets by day, and star-studded skies and silvery moonbeams dancing on the Pacific by night. It’s fun that Kihei Canoe Club is next door to the resort. Watching the canoes during practices or races is a cool diversion few resorts can offer. On Tuesdays & Thursdays the club offers visitors an opportunity to paddle out with them ($40 donation) - so worth it! Across the street is a quaint collection of local treasures: a farmer’s market featuring local fruits & veggies, Ululani's Shave Ice Store, Sugar Beach Bake Shop & an ABC convenience store. You will find yourself there more often than you think, it’s one of those spots! And just down the road a bit toward Kihei, you will notice a most charming church, painted 'plantation' green with white trim & exuding the Aloha spirit. We arrived right at sunset and the color just filled up the condo. You look directly out to the west and it was magical every evening. Mornings we spent drinking coffee on the balcony and watching whales jump and blow out in the water. Amazing. And the beach is right there so you can open the window and listen to the waves all night long. Building is located in North Kihei and is just enough out of the way to be quiet and private. Plus, its across the street from and ABC Store, Shave Ice and Bakery! Fresh, Hot Malasada's every morning! The condo was well furnished, clean and quiet. Reviewer Comments: The rental process is very easy. We've vacationed many times at Kiehi Beach Resort through Destination Maui. We've stayed in #302 many times, but this time the unit looks worn and tired. The living room furniture is so uncomfortable and needs replacing badly. We won't be renting this unit again because of the uncomfortable seating. The grounds of the building aren't kept up as nicely as when Justin was the onsight manager. The stair wells are filthy and need steam cleaned. The outside of the building is a bit tired and there's no real sidewalk on the main road, but that's more than offset by the beach as well as the farmer's market and shops across the street.
