This third floor oceanfront condo at the Kihei Surfside Resort is located on quieter side the building and has a lovely ocean view from the kitchen, living room, dining area and lanai. It is one of the larger, 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath units (680 sq ft). With the exception of the bedroom, the unit is tiled throughout. It has been tastefully remodeled to a very high nice standard. The unit has maple cabinetry and gorgeous black granite countertops which are consistent throughout the unit. The beautiful kitchen is well equipped with stylish black and stainless steel appliances, including a large refrigerator with ice maker, flat top stove with microwave hood fan above, full size dishwasher and garbage disposer. The living room has a queen size sofa-bed and a comfy swivel rocker rattan basket chair. There is a large flat screen LCD color TV, DVD player, stereo and multi speed ceiling fan. The dining area has a round rattan glass table with 4 matching chairs. The large lanai has a bistro table with two padded bistro chairs - a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or a romantic oceanfront dinner! The entry hall is very spacious, with a large built in maple/granite buffet, and a functional desk area with a ergonomic leather office chair and second desk area. The bedroom has a King size bed, multi speed ceiling fan and Hawaiian style rattan furniture. The master bathroom has a full size, walk in shower with bench and large grab handle, with the same gorgeous cabinetry and countertops earlier described. The half bath is equally as tastefully decorated. This condo is fully equipped with fresh linens and towels, hair dryer, iron/ironing board. All units have beach towels and a cooler. Umbrellas and snorkel gear are not supplied, but are often left behind in the units by other guests – no guarantees. The Kihei Surfside office loans out beach chairs free of charge during regular business hours - Monday to Saturday. Office is closed Sundays and Holidays. The unit has free, wireless high speed internet and free long distance calling to the United States and Canada. It is also equipped with a state of the art Oracode door lock, whereby each guest is issued a unique code which controls the door only during their stay. No keys! This unit is an excellent choice for guests who are looking for a spacious, private, comfortable, condo in a quieter part of the property with a great ocean view. It is customary for the residents of the Kihei Surfside to gather each evening for cocktails on the shore near the tiki torches for a traditional Hawaiian sundown ceremony. This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and fellow vacationers! Kihei Surfside Resort is located at 2936 S. Kihei Road, South Kihei at the entrance of beautiful Wailea. This is the desert part of Maui, where the sun shines more than any other part of the island. The Kihei Surfside Resort consists of an absolute oceanfront concrete building of 6 floors and 84 deluxe units with an elevator. There are two very nice oceanfront restaurants within 100 yards of the resort. The Grand Wailea Hotel, The Shops at Wailea and Wailea/Makena Golf Courses are close by and Kahalui airport is just twenty-five minutes away. Rental cars are available at the airport or in Kihei town. There is free parking on site. Just a few minutes from the airport are Costco, Wal-Mart and Sears. A short drive from the resort is Safeway, Foodland and Star Market, where you can stock up on groceries. Right across the parking lot from the Surfside is an upscale deli/grocery store for last minute items, and a yoga studio. The world class golf facilities of Wailea and Makena are nearby. Windsurfing, and many other water activities are also available nearby. Some of the best snorkeling on Maui is steps from the property. The Pacific Foundation conducts their annual whale count from the Surfside property. The Kihei boat ramp, from where the pleasure boats and sightseeing/snorkeling tours depart, is a five minute walk. Kihei town itself is only a few minutes away by car and boasts many fine restaurants, video and gift shops. Historical Lahaina and beautiful Kaanapali beach are a scenic 25 minute drive towards the western part of Maui. Rates for one bedroom units are for up to 2 people. 3rd and 4th persons in the unit are $25/nt for adults and $15/nt for persons under 18\. Maximum 4 people. The grounds are immaculate. There were always lounge chairs available. You could rent free beach chairs, bocci ball set, putters for putting green from the office. The condo was a perfect size for 2 of us, and we really enjoyed the view. What was even more wonderful was the whole condo building! There is a wonderful lawn with lawn chairs to use, a nice pool, and just steps away from one of our favorite beaches on Maui. The front office has plenty of beach chairs too. Everyone was so friendly in the building, and you can tell that the owners take good care of the units, as well as the HOA taking great care of the grounds. There is a really nice sense of community in this area, and I appreciated it being less touristy than other spots on the island. We can't wait to come back! ##### Mary Jane Y. Low key yet convenient to everything. Communications with the owners were great. I highly recommend staying here. I will in a heartbeat given the opportunity to come back to Maui. Waking up every morning and sitting on the balcony was a dream. With a competitive rate it was perfect! It was quiet at night and in the morning I could hear the sweet sound of birds at the bird feeder across the lawn. I didn’t hear chickens but saw some around. We enjoyed our time at the condo. It was a perfect location for walking into the town or local beaches. The pool and site was great with access to chairs etc. the unit is a bit older and does not look exactly like the photos. The small appliances were older - toaster worked but was missing the handle and just had felt to push down and the coffee machine was very rusted - but didn’t impact our stay overall. Even without A/C the condo was cool if there was a breeze off the ocean and the fans did help. We enjoyed our stay and would stay at the condo building again. ##### Natalie M.
