I booked this property online and upon arrival i found the room fully prepared for me. I really enjoyed my stay at the property. The staff were so friendly and very quick to respond to request for assistance by guests. I would recommend you to try the hotel and i look forward to staying again at OKapi Hotel during any future trip to Kigali Rwanda.

The staffs was excellent very helpful I really enjoy my stay when I come back I would not hesitate to book again and recommend friends . One think I did not like was the lack of African food the hotel need to have something on the menu for people who want to experience Rwanda through food

I originally booked a 6 night stay, I checked in for the first night early in the morning at about 2am. My room was on the third floor but there is no elevator in the building, and it was extremely tiring for me to climb the stairs (I am 68). The room has no a/c and no fan, there is a window/door in the room leading to a balcony but there is no mosquito screen so I was unable to open it. There is a mosquito screen hoisted over the bed but it looked dirty and I did not use it. The room was suffocatingly hot. If I had arrived during the daytime I would have walked out and gone somewhere else. That first night I managed to get a little bit of sleep, despite the suffocating heat. At sunrise, about 6am, I was able to open the window/door to the balcony to let some air in without worry about mosquitos. However, my room in the hotel faces east so the sun was shining directly into my room and within about an hour, the room was like a sauna despite having the balcony window/door wide open. And my room overlooks a busy road and the noise was really annoying. I checked out the next morning, and found a hotel elsewhere. I told the clerk at the lobby the reasons I was moving out, and that night the hotel owner phoned me and offered an apology, and also offered a refund for the remaining 5 nights via the booking agent. The promised refund has not been made. I made a complaint to expedia but they have been unable to reach the owner.

Hello Mr Atkinson,This is Egide, owner of OKAPI HOTEL.We spoke briefly about your early checkout and arrangements to refund your unconsumed nights.We understand your reason(s) for moving out and that you should be reimbursed for the extra payment.Indeed, I recall our conversation and the 2 options we had discussed for your reimbursement:1) Okapi Hotel to reimburse you directly based on the rate we were paid by Expedia. This option was the easiest and fastest, but you would loose the commission retained by Expedia.2) You ask for a refund from Expedia, which in turn will ask us to refund them what you did not consume.It is a long process, but I believe Expedia will refund you based on the rate you paid them.Okapi Hotel is ok with either option.Please let us know which option you have opted for and we will comply right away.I told you that I was traveling, therefore I may have not been on the top of this issue.I truly apologize and am ready to make it right by you as soon as you direct us on how to proceed.Regards

Recommended gem in city centre
Excellent hotel for the price.while it might not be Hyatt quality, the rooms are functional, clean and comfortable with great views from the balcony if you get the 3rd or 4th floor. ALL staff members go the extra mile to make sure you have a nice stay Breakfast is Ok. VFeuit us excelkent, but uou have to order cooked eggs. The restaurant meals for lunch and dinner are excellent. Order about an hour before you want it though!

Good value on your money
Hotel is ok and rooms too. Hot shower and big bed. Very good buffet breakfast on own restaurant where can order good food on menu. Staff are nice and helpfull. Airport transporting arrange. If arrive by bus to Kigali it is better take to motorbike lift then walk to the hotel.
