Rushmore Express Keystone

"We liked our stay here. The reception staff were super friendly and helpful. We ended up in a family suite that was more room than we needed, but it was nice to spread out. This hotel has interior and exterior entrances to rooms, ours was exterior and we were able to park right in front of our door which was nice. We enjoyed the hot tub, although it was on the hotter end of comfortable. The location is great for visiting Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park in the Black Hills. As well as being close to stores and restaurants in Keystone. We would stay here again."

"The stay was a mixed experience. The room itself is spacious and comfortable. The property does not have an elevator, which was particularly inconvenient because I was traveling with a heavy item and they didn’t have anyone to assist me in getting it on the second floor. The bathroom also had one burned-out light bulb, and the two different types of lighting above the sink were noticeably mismatched...one very bright/cool and the other very warm. The room’s air-conditioning unit is also positioned directly beside the bed, making it somewhat noisy and blowing directly on the person sleeping there. The biggest issue for me, however, was the inconsistency in customer service between shifts. First morning-shift clerk: Curt and unfriendly. She was not overtly rude, but her interactions felt dismissive and lacked warmth or interest. Second, afternoon-shift clerk: Completely different experience. Pam was friendly, helpful, attentive, and willing to go out of her way to assist. She was a genuinely delightful person to interact with and provided the kind of customer service that makes a guest feel welcome. Middle aged bearded overnight clerk: Unfortunately, my interactions with him were rude and unpleasant. Overall, I think the property itself has a lot going for it...the spacious rooms and useful amenities, but the inconsistency in front-desk service significantly affected my experience. One clerk was exceptional, while the interactions with the other two left me disappointed."
