The location offers picturesque views of the islands at high tide, while low tide reveals stunning tide pools and expansive sand flats. Wildlife is abundant, with Great Blue Herons and Egrets frequently seen catching their meals along the water’s edge. Less than a mile away, the iconic Cape Porpoise lighthouse provides a perfect photo opportunity for visitors. Indoor Living Spaces The Living room has a large picture window facing the islands. The lighthouse is off to the south and the scenic shack of Fort Island due East. A comfortable couch and chairs create a nice area for relaxing and entertaining. The dining room features a large maple table with 10 seats (additional chairs can be added). A butler’s pantry stores the china and glasses. The newly remodeled kitchen with large picture windows looking out to the islands eases the kitchen tasks. The Maids pantry at the south end of the house, has the washer dryer and the downstairs bathroom. The bedrooms are furnished with new mattresses, linens and bed covers. The two seaside bedrooms feature gorgeous views and private sinks. Outdoor Living Spaces The house features a charming wrap-around porch, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the natural beauty. The seaside dining area is furnished with a teak table and chairs, while two lounge chairs and two Adirondack chairs offer comfortable spots to take in the views and soak up the sun. On the west side of the house, four rocking chairs provide an ideal setting to watch the evening sunset or enjoy a quiet moment away from the main gathering areas. The seating at the end of the pier is lovely in the evening to enjoy the changing light on the islands with you favorite cocktail and snack. Two bicycles are provided to take you swiftly up to town or out to the end of Langsford Road on the other side of town. Water Access and Recreation Residents and guests can take advantage of a private pier and float, which serve as convenient access points to the water or peaceful places to relax. Seating is available at the end of the pier, and the float is perfect for swimming, launching kayaks, or paddle boarding. For added enjoyment, two kayaks and a paddle board are provided for renters. Exploring the sand flats is a memorable adventure, easily accessed from the float. Two bicycles for your use can Grounds and Trail Access A long, winding stone road leads to the house and the private grounds. Passing by the tennis court and barn, the road transitions into a woodland trail that ascends Stone Haven Hill and connects to Pier Road and the Fish Pier of Cape Porpoise. Here, visitors can observe local lobster fishermen at work and enjoy dining at one of three establishments: • Cape Pier Chowder House: Casual lunch on an open deck • Ultramar: Renowned for its excellent seafood-based menu • Casa 77: An upscale bar atmosphere with a diverse menu provided by Ultramar The town of Cape Porpoise, a 10-15 minute walk, offers several Tennis and Leisure The private clay tennis court is just steps from the house, offering an inviting space for matches and practice. Players may be pleasantly distracted by views of the lighthouse while serving to the south side of the court. For spectators, seating for two with an umbrella provides comfort and shade. We saw lots of crabs, jellyfish, and shrimp. The kids walked all the way to the lighthouse. During high tide we saw a seal which was really cool. The meals we had from the local restaurants can only be described as absofreakinglutely amazing! The seafood was just delicious. The lobster bisque and lobster roll from Allison's was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The she-crab soup from the Maine Diner was so delicious. The food from the Chowder House and Clam Shack were amazing as well. I will miss that definitely! My only complaint about this vacation is that we only booked 1 week. I definitely recommend renting this house if you want an absolutely relaxing and memorable vacation! ##### Shannon P. This place is absolutely exceptional. We never felt the need to leave once in our four days at the house....the wraparound deck always has both sun and shade from dusk til dawn. The flats are walkable (and completely magical, an incomparable foot massage!) at low tide and swimmable/kayakable (off the dock) at high tide (and 2 hours before/after, give or take). The house is a 3 minute drive, 15 minute walk from the center of Cape Porpoise, and 7-8 minutes drive from Kennebunkport....so if you need things, everything is nearby. Candida and family were great hosts and were next door/reachable should you need them. ##### Ned M. The house itself is as clean as it is comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed. The views from the porch, lawn, and living room and bedrooms are stunning. The natural rhythm of weather and tides encourages everyone to relax and engage the day as it comes. There are plenty of activities for all levels of skill and energy. Lie on the porch with a good book, walk the sand flats, swim, kayak in the harbor or head into the ocean. Or do all of the above in a day, rinse and repeat. Not into water activities- bikes and a gentle on the knees clay tennis court are available. Hungry and don’t feel like cooking ? You can walk to several good restaurants and deli food. Willing to cook? Check out Langsford Rd Fishhouse for fresh seafood. Watch the sunset as you barbecue. Put your feet up and see the moon upon the water. Sleep well in comfortable beds. Wahwa did not disappoint again! Such a special place to our family, as we vacationed here as children and now can enjoy with our children. We had such fun on the kayaks at high tide and exploring the flats and islands at low tide. The weather was perfect-only a quick thunderstorm Saturday afternoon, but then a beautiful rainbow appeared shortly thereafter. Louise, next door at Wahwa North, was fabulous! The cottage is spacious, very clean, and fully stocked with the essentials, like towels, linens, kitchenware, soaps, toilet paper, etc., which was much appreciated. The home feels modern yet maintains charming elements of its storied past, like sinks in each of the bedrooms and antique furniture throughout the home. Our favorite part was definitely the breathtaking views, which can be seen from very window, and the porch, which was a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of the islands and lighthouse of Cape Porpoise. We enjoyed exploring the sand flats at low tide and searching for seashells, and several of us enjoyed taking out the two kayaks that are available for use. The location of the home is ideal, as it's only about a 5 to 10 minute drive to downtown Kennebunkport and within walking distance to many great restaurants, including the Chowder House at the pier.
