The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is small in size but is very functional and well equipped for cooking. We ventured to the nearby fish markets and bought everything we needed for a lovely dinner. Staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. The hotesess was very kind and helpfull. There is also a tea celebration room, where we asked for one on the day of arrival, luckly the person who conducts the celebration was available (costs 10,000 yen as a fixed cost plus 1,500 yen per person). You are booking the whole place and can choose to either self-cater or eat out as you wish. It was lovely to have a traditional Japanese house to yourselves, the setting is lovely and the Machiya is so gorgeous and atmospheric. We were very impressed by the facilities, particularly the bathroom and the kitchen, as well as by the lovely little internal garden. The staff were very helpful, providing information and making reservations, and our stay was thoroughly enjoyable.
