"I love everything in this property. It was a fantastic and restful stay with my sister and bestie. The staff are extremely nice - Andrea, Mia, Tina, Omar and the other cook all very warm and hospitable. Even the drivers who picked up and dropped us off at the Kakslautannen bus stop are friendly. I will surely go back and visit the place with my son and other family members in winter time. They will surely love this place. Thank you for hospitality."

"The hotel is right next to the national park so great for hiking. The hotel is also in the centre of Saariselkä which is compact and pedestrian friendly so this makes it easy if you’re using buses to get in and out of town and don’t have a vehicle. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant are good. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly. Be aware that activities book out and so if you want to do more than hiking you’ll need to plan and book ahead."

"Amazing property"

Gáldu Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"Gáldu Hotel and Spa is an idyllic spot for a truly relaxing getaway. The food was incredible, and although the location is slightly remote, it hardly matters when the hotel’s facilities are of such a high standard. Breakfast was next level — a beautifully presented buffet with plenty of choice, alongside freshly prepared hot options. The spa was also a fantastic experience, clearly well maintained and thoughtfully managed. What really stood out was the staff. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and attentive, and it’s clear the owners have put a great deal of care and thought into every detail of the hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay!"

Santa's Hotel Tunturi

10/10 Excellent

"Amazing breakfast included in the room cost 7-10am, got a free upgrade to a suite with a personal sauna in our room, perfectly located in the middle of the village. Maybe 5-7 minute walk to the top of the village and 20th to the downhill ski resort. 3 min walk to the trails. Everything was amazing!"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Kakslauttanen?

While Kakslauttanen is a destination that offers great experiences year-round, the best time to visit truly depends on what you're hoping to see and do.For those dreaming of a winter wonderland and the Northern Lights, the period from December to March is ideal. During these months, the landscape is covered in snow, creating a magical setting for activities like husky safaris, reindeer sleigh rides, and snowmobiling. The long, dark nights significantly increase your chances of witnessing the Aurora Borealis dance across the sky, particularly between 9 PM and 11 PM. This is superb for couples seeking a romantic and adventurous escape. If you're interested in the midnight sun and a different kind of Arctic experience, late May to early August offers continuous daylight. This is a great time for enjoying hiking, fishing, and exploring the surrounding nature under the glow of the sun that never sets. Families often appreciate the extended daylight for outdoor activities without the chill of winter. For a balance of autumn colours and a chance to see the Northern Lights before the deepest winter, September and October can be a good choice.
