-Outdoor Amenities-
The backyard is where Desert Haus really comes into its own. A broad concrete terrace surrounds the in-ground pool and integrated hot tub, with sculptural loungers positioned for sunny afternoons and views of the desert mountains. Glass doors connect the terrace directly to the house, so moving between a swim, a snack, and a comfortable spot in the shade of the interior feels effortless.
The outdoor spaces are arranged for spending time together without everyone having to do the same thing. Some can lounge beside the pool while others play bocce or settle into the hot tub. A gas BBQ and large dining table make dinner outside an easy choice, especially when the afternoon heat gives way to a cooler evening.
After dinner, the fire pit lounge becomes the natural gathering place. A cushioned sectional and chairs surround the gas flames, with plenty of room to stretch out and talk as the mountains fade into the evening sky. For a quieter moment, the front bistro set offers a different perspective on the desert, with a particularly lovely outlook at sunset.
The yard is partially fenced, with open desert scenery and neighboring properties in the surrounding area.
-Living Area-
The living room has the comfortable, lived-in feeling of a well-designed desert retreat. A cognac leather sofa, soft lounge chairs, and a low coffee table create a welcoming place to gather, while expansive glass doors bring in daylight and frame the landscape outside.
Music is part of the experience here. Choose an album from the record collection, put it on the turntable, and settle in with a drink from the cocktail cart. There are books and board games for evenings spent indoors, and the open layout keeps conversation flowing between the living room, kitchen, and outdoor terrace.
The combination of natural materials, carefully chosen artwork, and simple architectural lines gives the room personality without competing with the scenery.
-Kitchen and Dining-
Warm walnut-toned cabinetry, dark countertops, and a generous central island give the kitchen a distinctly modern feel. The island provides bar seating for casual breakfasts, conversation while cooking, or a place to set out appetizers before dinner.
The kitchen is stocked with cookware, utensils, spices, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar, along with the appliances and essentials needed to prepare meals at home.
Coffee lovers have several ways to start the morning. The dedicated coffee station includes whole beans from Joshua Tree Coffee Co., a grinder, a Keurig, and a French press. Make your favorite cup and enjoy it at the island, beside the pool, or at the front bistro table while the desert is still quiet.
For dinner, the outdoor dining table offers a change of scenery just beyond the glass doors. Grill something simple, bring out a bottle of wine, and enjoy a meal together against the mountain backdrop.
-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
Desert Haus features two king bedrooms and two full bathrooms, an especially comfortable arrangement for two couples traveling together. Both bedrooms share a cohesive design, with rich vertical wood paneling, softly glowing globe sconces, olive-toned bedding, and natural textures that make the spaces feel warm and restful.
Each bedroom includes a king bed, a smart TV, and sliding glass doors opening to the desert. The direct outdoor access is a lovely detail, giving guests the freedom to step outside for fresh air without passing through the main living area.
Both bathrooms feature spacious walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, double vanities, black fixtures, and soft plaster-toned finishes. The clean, understated design continues the home's modern aesthetic while providing plenty of room for two people to get ready comfortably.
A separate laundry room is located just off the guest bathroom. For groups of five, an additional air mattress with bedding is available.
Desert Haus is a home for enjoying the best parts of a Joshua Tree getaway at your own pace, with plenty of room for afternoons outside, good meals, music, and long evenings together.
