Great stay

Posted 25-Oct-2016
Pros: The location is perfect for visiting manhattan. Just a short ride on the Path. Room was clean and updated (not at all like the picture on here). Staff was friendly and helpful. Checked us in very early due to early fight. Area is nice, clean and felt very safe even at night.
Cons: I liked everything about it. I had no issues what so ever.
Location: Everything to do!

Great hotel for a visit to NYC

Posted 27-Sep-2016
Pros: Fantastic location. Great hotel staff. Very clean and comfortable.
Cons: It was still expensive - but cheaper than NYC. You can't stay in this area without knowing you are going to pay through the nose for a nice hotel!
Location: Statue of Liberty from Liberty State Park. Jersey City looked fantastic but didn't do much in the city.
I was trying to find a hotel in NYC but prices were even high for what you would expect in NYC. So I found this place in Jersey City and decided to drive (because the train was ridiculously overpriced). And now I won't do it any other way! This hotel was a great alternative! It was a suite with a kitchen in it. Reasonable parking charges, VERY pleasant staff and a reasonably priced little store with all the essentials you would need. They let me keep my car in the lot after we checked out to go do our thing with the Statue of Liberty. Super nice! I will come to this hotel first on my next visit to NYC. The ferry and PATH trains are about a 10 minute walk away and the views from Jersey City are fantastic. Like I said, I was a bit disappointed I wasn't able to stay in NYC but now I would do it no other way.

Worst cutomer service

Posted 03-Sep-2016 on Hotels
We had a great stay but the nightmare started after. We were double charged for the room and the parking. I could find out for the parking at the checkout. They made a refund that I received two weeks after. Finally, we were charged an extra night. I've noticed it on my statement. Our reservation was made by the Hotel.com website. I've tried (struggled) to get our money back by talking to Hotel.com and Candelwood but the service is more than awful. Be careful. It was my second time double charged with this website. To get the money back is not an easy task.

I was thrilled with the view and location. Our trip to NYC was made better by staying at the Candlewood Suites.

Enjoy the views from Jersey city

Posted 08-Aug-2016 on Hotels
I had waited too long to stay in Manhattan and the prices were just too high by the time I was ready to book. I found this hotel and saw that there was a kitchenette, right by the water and subway. Plus the reviews said it was clean too. I am so can't forget parking as I was driving from Minnesota. So I booked it. After just spending a week there, I would book it again in a heartbeat. It was so nice to go back to to Jersey city where it is quiet and you get to look at the gorgeous city lights across the Hudson. Where there are just a few walkers and joggers out and not hinders of people on every street little in NYC. I am very picky about hotels. This Candlewood had great staff, clean rooms and was close the PATH subway so you can get anywhere. There is also a light rail system that we didn't get a chance to use but if we were going to explore more of Jersey city, we would use that. Driving is a little crazy there.
