I happened to get here and the host came by to greet me and check me in. She was very helpful in providing me with info on Taroko and where to eat and what to do in Xincheng. I didn't see her after check in though. The hosts seem to only appear sometimes during the day. It was a great stay for the price and location. It made seeing Taroko very easy.
