"Lovely staff and the comfiest beds I've ever slept on in 20+ European countries"

"This was a very good hotel and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Lovely clean room and facing the courtyard as I requested rather than the street. Bed was comfortable and hotel quiet. The Metro station (Varosmarty utca; line 1) was about a 4 minute walk away on Andrassy Boulevard. The only negative is that the hotel is a mile from the Danube and feels a bit 'away' from the main action, but Deak Ferenc Ter is a 20 minute walk away - straight down Andrassy - or a few minutes on the Metro; so it's not too bad. If you want all the bars and tourist shops and so on, stay closer to the river. I visited the sauna once and sat out on the roof terrace. Had it to myself - it was great. The gym is small but reasonably well-equipped. Treadmill, elliptical machine, dumbbells. Very good hotel."

"I had a disappointing and somewhat unsafe experience during my stay. The shower floor was extremely slippery, which caused me to fall twice. I requested a shower mat from the front desk on two separate occasions, and each time I was told someone would bring it, but it never arrived. This lack of follow-through was frustrating and concerning, especially given the safety risk. On a more positive note, the breakfast was acceptable, but the options were limited and not very healthy. Overall, the lack of response from staff regarding a basic safety request significantly impacted my stay. I hope the hotel improves both its responsiveness and guest safety measures."

"Great selection of food ,juices and coffees for breakfast. Some f the hot dishes could possibly be a bit hotter but not a big deal."

"The location was excellent! However, the breakfast buffet left something to be desired—we only ate there once. Please note that we visited in April and the building’s air conditioning was not yet turned on, so our room was quite warm. Even with the window open, it didn’t help much and it was very noisy. That said, the staff was friendly and welcoming."

"The hotel was very clean, and the staffs were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a bottle of wine as a welcome gift—something that many hotels don’t offer—which made us feel very special. Since we didn’t open the wine, we left it as a gift for the housekeeper. I also really appreciated having a small refrigerator and a coffee maker in the room. These amenities are quite rare when traveling in Europe, and they were extremely convenient. The hotel’s location right next to the metro made getting around very easy. I would definitely stay at Hotel Oktogon Haggenmacher again and would highly recommend it to family and friends."

"Clean rooms. Just be careful. They will send you an automated email stating you owe additional money for accommodations you never requested. Ask for an itemized invoice showing exactly what these “alleged accommodations” are. "
