Construction started in 1860 but was interrupted because of the Civil War. Construction was paid for with $6,600 in Confederate money. Construction was finished in 1875. (The Georgia Courthouse Manual dates it as completed in 1863.) The building is a two-story brick courthouse with a stone foundation in the Greek Revival style. It is similar to many courthouses in Virginia, which is a result of the builders being from Virginia. It has Tuscan columns that are on top of one-story brick piers. The interior originally had a cross plan. Construction started in 1860 but was interrupted because of the Civil War. Construction was paid for with $6,600 in Confederate money. Construction was finished in 1875. (The Georgia Courthouse Manual dates it as completed in 1863.) The building is a two-story brick courthouse with a stone foundation in the Greek Revival style. It is similar to many courthouses in Virginia, which is a result of the builders being from Virginia. It has Tuscan columns that are on top of one-story brick piers. The interior originally had a cross plan. I did not check out the breakfast so don’t much about it but the coffe they supplied was surprisingly good. There was plenty of grass on which to walk the dogs and good supply of bags. The check in clerk was super nice and efficient and the property was very well kept, some cigarette butts around the dog walk area but not bad. It was totally brightly lit at night including all hallways and all the parking areas. It felt very safe and well managed. Great price, great room!"
