Loved it! Best sushi I have had in my five trips to japan! Amazing breakfast as well. Always full and happy. Just an unforgettable unique experience. Such a nice sushi master! Thank you from my wife and I!
We had a truly wonderful stay at Miyajima Machiya Hotel Shiomachi-An. The location is excellent, making it a lovely base for exploring Miyajima.
The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the omakase dinner. It was an exceptional culinary experience, thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious. We were especially happy to have the opportunity to try fugu (pufferfish) for the first time, which made the evening even more memorable. Breakfast was also delicious and a wonderful way to start the day.
We are very grateful for the care and hospitality that went into making our stay so special. Staying here was a memorable part of our time on Miyajima, and we would wholeheartedly recommend this place to other travellers.
Thank you very much for such a lovely experience. We hope to have the opportunity to return someday!

Perfect location, amazing hospitality, and the best meal I’ve had in a very long time!
This place was such a special experience! The owner and chef of the sushi restaurant downstairs is absolutely lovely and crafted us the best dinner of our entire trip! The rooms are private and comfortable and full of character. This is definitely one of the most authentic and memorable stays of our trip.
Unique stay opportunity with amazing food. Sleeping on futon and tatami above a sushi restaurant is as about Japanese as an experience can get. I would recommend this location to everything and the food was sublime - the 13 course dinner has ruined me for sushi any where else and the breakfast was great too.
Excellent traditional ryokan with two rooms and a master chef who prepares a delicious sushi meal in front of you. Also really nice breakfast and a terrace with a view of the mountains. Highly recommended!!

Amazing location, super friendly owner and absolutely loved the dinner and breakfast provided. Definitely want to go and visit again another time.
Our family had an excellent experience! When we first arrived and entered the sushi restaurant, we were not sure, but the traditional japanese rooms were nice and the bathroom and toilets were very nice and clean. But the highlight is the incredible sushi dinner. The chef gives you an experience, not just a dinner. This was by far the best sushi we had in Japan and amoung the best we ever had. Worth eating there if in Miyajima (which is worth the trip as it's beautiful).
We highly recommend for an authentic Japanese stay, but a must for the sushi!
A nice little guesthouse if you are looking for an authentic stay in a beautiful location. We were treated to an amazing dinner with a wonderful host and will be recommending this experience to everyone we meet.
Lovely hosts. The dinner is a must-try—it’s omakase, prepared by the hosts themselves, and it’s the best sushi I’ve had in a long time. The breakfast is also wonderful.
After dinner, I strongly recommend walking to Itsukushima Shrine and the torii gate, which are just a few minutes away. Once all the tourists have left, you can enjoy the quiet island and the beautiful views all to yourself.
Wonderful apartment in a traditional house with two bedrooms and a bathroom, very centrally located in Miyajima. A delicious dinner prepared fresh by the very kind owner and an equally delicious breakfast are included. A wonderful experience that we recommend to anyone wanting to spend a night on this beautiful island.
This place is amazing, a good taste of traditional guest houses.
The dinner was out this world, best sushi I ever had!
Staff was helpful and very polite. Would stay there again on my next visit to Miyajima.
This is a great place to stay for an authentic Japanese experience. The included dinner was delicious and we had a memorable time with the sushi chef. Staying on Miyajima Island allowed us to take a nice evening walk and this ryokan is close to all the sites. We truly enjoyed our stay.
The inn Is fabolous and has a great position near the main point of interest on the island.
The dinner provided at the inn was delicious. The best experience in Japan
This was an amazing experience for our family of 4. The traditional beds to 15 course sushi dinner to warm hospitality to hearty breakfast all exceeded my expectations. The host went out of his way to show us around to some beautiful night time photo spots after dinner and let us keep our luggage before and after check in/out times. Would recommmend to absolutely anyone except if you have mobility issues as the store to the main rooms were quite step.
This place was amazing - pretty much a fabulous sushimi restaurant with a guesthouse on top. We (family of 5) had the run of the place and were treated to exceptional dinners and breakfast everyday.
The owner even took us out one night with kitchen leftovers so the kids could feed the local deer.
If you stay here, come hungry to every dinner!
Wonderful place to stay for a true Japanese experience. The location in town is close to all major sites, but also very quiet.
We had an added surprise of being able to watch fireworks from a unique place, known to locals (with the owner’s help)!
The sashimi was amazing as was the breakfast.
Just before leaving, we had a family crisis that required a change of plans. They were very helpful, which was both comforting and calming.
