Looking for a romantic couples getaway with that someone special? Need to get away from the kids for a weekend? Exhausted from work and need to decompress with some environmental stress relief? Whatever the reason, we've got you covered! This mid-century Highlands home is secluded but also less than 2 miles from the heart of Main Street. This is our second home that we've recently renovated, and is now available for rent on select dates. Walk to Smokehouse BBQ or On the Veranda restaurants, or drive five minutes to the heart of Main Street for world class shopping and gourmet restaurants. Or just hang out at home, enjoy the updated kitchen, crank up the fireplace and take in the view from the living room, dining room or bedroom through the new floor to ceiling windows that span the entire back of the home. Or get outside, immerse yourself in nature on the front or back deck, and enjoy the sound of the creek that runs through the property. Keep an eye out for the deer who love to stop by! We love our home because of the seclusion yet proximity to Main Street and have worked hard to create a relaxing mid-century couples mountain retreat. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!! NOTE: This is a 1 bedroom home intended for a maximum of 2 guests. It is not child or pet friendly, so unfortunately we cannot accommodate either. My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Hickory Hill Home. It truly is a great location. It is nicely secluded, but so close to town. The best of both worlds! The house is everything you would hope it to be. Clean, cozy and comfortable. The work the hosts have put into it is evident. We can’t wait to return! ##### Amy J. This house is truly the best of both worlds... a very short drive from both downtown/shopping/attractions AND hiking/sightseeing, we were thrilled to experience it all! We were able to get away from it all and loved every minute... we had our own private sanctuary at this beautiful home. Appointed with beautiful finishes and everything you could need for your stay from coffee (and fixings) to a super comfy bed. The house is super clean and was so relaxing - I highly recommend lighting a fire and enjoying the view! We can't wait to return. ##### Caitlin W. It has a whole wall of floor to ceilings windows that opens to a nice balcony that overlooks the woods with no houses in sight, but is 5 minutes from town! It has a really nice stream that is relaxing on the side of the house. They even left a bottle of sparkling wine for us! A nice touch. The beds are comfortable foam mattresses and the hosts provide a nice list of recommendations for hikes and restaurants. There is also a 2nd bedroom with two twin beds. ##### Mande S. We absolutely loved this home away from home! Everything was spotless and the kitchen had everything we could possibly need, even the surprise gift of a bottle of sparkling wine was appreciated. Sadly, my husband and I are not fans of hard mattresses. I was able to create a soft mattress with extra bed pillows on the couch, while my husband just dealt with the bed. We loved the house too much to ask for a refund to find a different place. Also, if you have any sort of car sickness issues, it's good to know that MANY of the roads to and from the house to hikes, restaurants, shopping are VERY curvy, but worth the drive to these fantastic locations. I would definitely stay again if they had a softer mattress. Also, be sure to find out the typical weather of the Highlands before you schedule. We stayed 4 nights and had 2 days of fog and rain, dampening our hiking plans, but the delightful fireplace took away the gloom. Then we drove to Asheville for the Biltmore Estate, where it was sunny and clear! I later looked up Highlands typical weather and it stated that it is one of the rainiest places on the east coast, yet I heard many people have second houses there for the cool summers. ##### Linda C. Thanksgiving at this property was perfect!! Great location and perfect for two. We always stay at this house.
