Location was nice. The view of the lake from our porch was mostly obstructed by trees but still pretty. The dock was a great place to sit and look out at Seneca lake. Highly recommend driving down the hill to the dock because it is extremely steep and walking back up would be exhausting.
When we arrived, we noticed that fruit flies were present inside our cottage. The provided plastic wine glasses had wine residue still inside and were scuffed up looking. The hand soap dispenser in the bathroom worked intermittently because the lid kept popping off. The shower head had poor water pressure. The TVs aren’t smart TVs, so we had to use our iPad if we wanted to stream anything. The air conditioner was very loud, and the bed and couch were not very comfortable.
Besides these issues, we did feel that the cottage we rented was pretty clean overall. It was a quiet location nestled between many wineries and right on the other side of the lake from Watkins Glen.
The cabin had everything we needed. It was very clean and we loved the fire pit outside. The view of the lake was great. The amenities were great. The dock was relaxing, just staring at the beautiful lake. We would recommend this to our friends and family. Will definitely go back.
It’s a good & clean property. Views of the lake are obstructed by the tree canopy. I still enjoyed the morning coffee by the porch.
What I hated though is that they offered to deliver firewood at the cottage, which I took, but they didn’t care enough to inform me that it doesn’t come with match or lighter. Quite disappointing since we checked in after 5:00pm and there’s no one in the reception to assist.
I was just told that I could check the nearby gas station, which luckily, sold lighters.
only issue that we had were the beds. they are memory foam and they certainly seem to remember where anyone that has slept there. there was a "dent" that I just could not seem to get out of unless I slept more towards the foot of the bed.
other than that we loved staying there
We very much enjoyed our stay here, it’s just a few miles north of the town of Watkins Glen. We had a one bedroom cabin which was plenty of room for my husband and I. Very clean! Air conditioning worked well. It was so nice to come back after exploring to sit on the porch and watch the sunset every day. There’s a table and chairs on the porch and we ate several meals out there. There are a few restaurants in the area that we liked; “Here” for breakfast and Scale House Brewery for a couple of dinners. Since we had the one bedroom, there wasn’t a full kitchen, but a fridge, microwave, and Keurig which was fine. Had a great time in the area.
The location was centrally located to various breweries, wineries, distilleries, restaurants, and basically everything else you could need. The upper Lakeview cottage had a fantastic view of the lake and the campfire was a spectacular way to view the sunset. The grounds and cottage were super clean and well maintained. We hope to be back soon!

Beautiful cabin, but a costly rodent surprise
The property was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Unfortunately, a rodent got into our parked car overnight and chewed through our toddler’s car seat (foam exposed, so it had to be replaced) and damaged some clothes in the trunk — plus we had to sanitize the whole vehicle. Between the new car seat and cleanup, it roughly doubled our trip costs.
We’ve stayed at other rural cabins with this same car before and never had this happen, so it may just be bad luck. Still, a heads-up to guests about taking precautions with vehicles (deterrents, etc.) would be a nice addition. The hosts themselves were great — just wanted to flag this for other travelers.
Beautiful Seneca Lake view,
Enjoyed the dock and watch sunset.
We made s’more at the fire 🔥 pit.
Close to waltkins Glen park and many winery and brewery.
this was an exceptional place to stay. the cabin was clean and spacious, you had everything you needed. check in/check out was easy. the view from the deck was beautiful and we loved that there was a playground for the kids
The property was amazing with very nice views and a lovely hill right on the lake. And this was our first time in Hector. And we will definitely be back at this property in the future
The cabins were immaculate! For
Once, this place was well planned because we had enough electrical outlets for all our devices. Can’t wait to return with all our family!
The staff was accommodating even for late check-in & able to organize water cattle & barbeque on request. Overall we had the best sunset while staying in cottage 18.
My friends and I stayed here for a quick trip to Watkins Glen and it was great! Very clean and comfortable and the staff member I spoke with was very friendly and informative. We definitely plan on coming back here if we’re ever in the area again!
If you are looking for a peaceful remote setting that is also close to hiking, restaurants, and wineries this is a great spot. Clean cabins with everything you need. Would definitely recommend and stay again. The only thing I would add is some sort of shade option on the dock area- possibly table umbrellas that could be put up on a few spots just for the option of shade. Loved this place!
