"GREAT COMFORTABLE SERVICE AND FACILITIES"

"The room we booked was clean and very pleasant but unfortunately overnight on the first day the toilet cistern developed a leak. Because it was a Sunday and they couldn't get a plumber to attend they helped us move into a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment with its own living room and kitchen at no extra charge. We were so impressed we have booked a similar one bedroom apartment at the Green Dragon at the beginning of September."

"I stay here on a regular basis when I travel between Glasgow and the south. The hotel is a grand old building in a beautiful little hamlet off the A1 with lots of history. Due to this and the fact its family owned and not part of a huge chain, it’s a bit worn in places but it’s clean, comfortable and cosy with plenty of charm and quirks.. The staff are lovely, welcoming, very helpful and do their best to make your stay a good one. There’s a spa, a bar and a restaurant, the food is delicious and there is a variety of dishes to suite all. I would stay here before considering any of the other places nearby for all of these reasons."

"A really good location to stop overnight and very happy with the room. Breakfast was delivered in a hamper box outside our room and was rather disappointing. No egg/cold meats option. The main option was oats with fruit. We ordered with banana and strawberry. Tiny amount of strawberry and the banana slices were dried and chewy. But the evening meal was good honest pub grub."

"The check in was slow as no staff were about and had to wait for a while. However staff were welcoming and helpful and approachable. The room itself was basic but met the requirements for us. It was quite hot at night and the curtains didn’t do their job very well resulting in our daughter waking at 5.30am. The towels were of a reasonable standard but could do with being replaced. The room was facing onto a main road so traffic noise the next morning was noticeable and woke us up. Breakfast was limited but cooked breakfast was nice choice and came quickly and hot. "

"We have stayed at the Riverside hotel a few times. Not been for about 8 years but had a one night stay on the 9th May. It has been one of my favourite hotels but after staying this time the cleanliness has gone down hill. The family room No 3 was very dusty on skirting boards and dado rails and window sill was covered in flies. The shower room needed bleaching around the bottom of the shower. The lamp on the dressing table was extra dusty on top . These things can be put right if you got a good cleaner in. It has certainly put me off staying again. The breakfast was so nice & were the staff. A lovely clean bed but the lack of dusting in the room has let this hotel down. 😪"
