Tam Coc Sunrise Homestay

10/10 Excellent

"Great stay. Wonderful staff. Good breakfast. Nice pool."

LittleTamCoc Boutique villa Ninh Binh

10/10 Excellent

"The resort was wonderful and our Host we even better. What a great room with an excellent view. The mattress was comfortable and the room was clean. Our host helped us get a scooter delivered to the resort and prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning! We would highly recommend staying here."

Bliss Tam Coc Resort Ninh Binh

10/10 Excellent

"We had a great stay at Bliss Tam Coc, we stayed with our children in the 2 bed villa which was perfect for us, very clean and plenty of space. The staff were all really kind and helpful. The outdoor pool was beautiful. It is out of Tam Coc, but we preferred this as was lovely and quiet but an easy Grab ride into town. The food and drinks in the restaurant were great too, would definitely recommend."

Hotel LaVue Tam Coc

10/10 Excellent

"This property is great for people looking more for a traditional boutique hotel experience instead of a homestay in the Tam Coc area. It’s only a few months old so everything is very nice and clean. The staff are so helpful and kind and go out of their way to make sure you’re enjoying yourself. The rooftop pool is beautiful with amazing views of the surrounding mountains and rice fields. The breakfast could be a little better with a few more options and maybe some prepared coffee options. The rooftop pool is so nice, but it makes it so there’s not a ton of room so the pool area gets full pretty quick on nice days. The bar on the other side could really use some cute seating to make you want to end your evening there with a nightcap. But overall the rooms are huge and so comfortable. Definitely recommend this property!"

Pataco Tam Coc Hotel

8/10 Good

"The hotel’s design resembles that of a resort and is very appealing to the eyes upon arrival. Special shoutout to hotel staff Daisy and Lina who were both very professional and helpful, always attending to us with a sunshine smile, making our 3D 2N stay great. We got a free upgrade to a room with 1 king bed and 1 single bed for 2 pax and the room was really spacious. Unfortunately the toilet was a little too cramp but they have a separate connecting bath tub area which is luxurious for a hotel room. Getting to the central area where all the restaurants, cafes and shops are located was via Grab was easy and very affordable. By foot is possible too, likely within 10-15mins. The hotel’s provided breakfast is via order from the menu and they have a selection comprising both western options such as big breakfast or pancakes and eggs cooked in different styles or local delights such as pho and stir fried noodles. Overall we had enjoyed the stay."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Hau Loc?

The best area to stay in Hau Loc is Hai Tien Beach, which is the primary tourist destination in the district.

Hai Tien Beach is a coastal strip known for its sandy shores and relaxed atmosphere. The main road, often referred to as Coastal Road, runs parallel to the beach and is where most accommodations, restaurants, and local shops are situated. It's a relatively new development for tourism, so it feels less crowded than some other Vietnamese beaches.

Families often find Hai Tien Beach an excellent choice. The gentle slopes of the beach make it suitable for children to play, and many hotels offer family-friendly amenities. There are also local seafood restaurants along the main road that cater to various tastes, providing convenient dining options after a day at the beach.

For those looking for a quieter retreat, the northern end of Hai Tien Beach offers a more secluded experience.

When is the best time to go to Hau Loc?

The best time to go to Hau Loc, Thanh Hóa Province, Vietnam, is during the dry season, which typically runs from November to April.

During these months, you'll experience pleasant weather with less humidity and sunshine, making it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and cultural sites. Temperatures are generally comfortable, avoiding the intense heat and heavy rainfall common in the summer months. This period is particularly good for visiting attractions like the Ho Dynasty Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, without the disruption of monsoons.

For those looking to enjoy the coastal areas and beaches, such as the nearby Hai Tien Beach, the dry season offers great conditions for swimming and relaxing by the sea. The calm waters and clear skies are also excellent for boat trips or exploring local fishing villages.
