Old Rectory Loft (ref UK41711, sleeps 2) and Old Rectory Barn (ref PKKH, sleeps 10) are also within the grounds.. 1 step to entrance. All on the Ground Floor: Open plan living space. Living area: Smart TV, Open Fire Dining area. Kitchen area: (1 Step), Electric Cooker, Electric Hob, Microwave, Fridge/Freezer, Washer Dryer Bedroom: ¾ Double (4ft) Bed Bathroom: Bath With Shower Attachment, Toilet. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial logs for wood burner included. Travel cot and highchair. Welcome pack. Walled garden with garden furniture and BBQ. Old Rectory Cottage enjoys its own parking, private secluded garden, separate entrance, self-contained amenities and privacy, perfect for a romantic getaway for two. Inside, everything is on the ground floor with one step into the open plan living, dining and kitchen area. There is an open fireplace for those chillier nights plus Smart TV and Wi-fi, and a glazed stable door that leads directly out on to a private south-facing courtyard garden and an outdoor wood burner/barbecue – the perfect spot on a summer or winter’s evening. The owner thoughtfully provides complementary shampoo, essentials and a hairdryer. The village green is located a 2-minute walk along a footpath. There you will find the 16th-century pub (with garden) that serves lunch and dinner. The pub is a starting point for numerous walks, cycle, and bridle paths. Black Down, the highest point in the National Park, with its pine and heather covered slopes made famous by Tennyson, is immediately accessible on foot. Next to the village green is the recreation ground (with pavilion and outside café). This is the location for cricket, football and stoolball matches, and is a launch site for hot-air balloon flights (including in winter). There are three well-maintained tennis courts, as well as outdoor zumba/fitness classes. Within a 30-minute walk via footpaths are two further pubs, one in Henley (Winner of Good Food Pub Guide of the Year 2012, Pub of the Year Sussex Life Awards 2016), and another in Fernhurst (with popular Indian restaurant) which offers takeaway as well as eat-in. Within a 15–20-minute drive is Petworth with its antique shops, stately home, art collection (Gainsborough, Holbein, Titian, Blake), Capability Brown gardens, boating lake and open-air concerts, and Midhurst, renowned for polo at Cowdray Park. For sailing, canoeing and open-water swimming enthusiasts, Frensham Great Pond is similarly nearby. Golf is available locally at Hindhead, Old Thorns, Liphook and Cowdray. Fishing is available via Grayshott Angling club. Goodwood is 25-30 minutes away with its Festival of Speed, Revival, horse racing and aerodrome (with self-fly hire, and Harvard and Spitfire flight experiences). Chichester and West Wittering with its award-winning sandy beach are 35-45 minutes away, depending on local (seasonal) traffic. As soon as we arrived, we were completely blown away by the property. It's lovely and cosy, without feeling cramped. Helen, the owner, goes above and beyond, in what you'd expect from a holiday rental. All of the essentials are provided, including towels, toiletries, washing up supplies, wood for the fire, and even robes and slippers, for the short walk to/from the hot tub. I was especially impressed with the Nespresso coffee machine, and the number of pods included. Helen is just a call/text away, and nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend Old Rectory Cottage, for anybody looking for a romantic getaway.
