Hana Ocean Palms Bungalows
The Hana Ocean Palms Bungalow is located across from one of Hana's most beautiful oceanfront pools - Waioka Pond (Venus Pool). The property is nestled in a coconut palm grove and surrounded by almost an acre of lush tropical flowers, fruit trees and bamboo. Pick avocados, papayas and bananas and gather vegetables and herbs from the garden. This charming bungalow has all the comforts of home including a fully equipped kitchen, a gas grill for barbecuing, high speed internet access, and a phone for local or long distance calls. The master bedroom has a queen bed and the back bedroom has one double, and one twin bed. The bungalow has two screened porches, one with a hammock for an afternoon nap, and the front porch with a queen bed looking out to the ocean. Fall asleep listening to the sea from the screened porch and awaken to the sound of the wind in the palms and birds singing. Original oil paintings by a local artist, warm natural wood and bamboo, luxurious rugs, and bedding throughout.
The bungalow is about one mile from Koki Beach, famous Hamoa Beach, and three miles from quaint Hana town. It is about a 20 to 25-minute drive to 'Ohe'o Pools ('Seven Pools') in the Kipahulu section of Haleakala National Park. The national park has abundant freshwater pools and waterfalls, hiking trails, and a cultural hike to a restored ancient taro farm.

We loved the beautiful landscaping and the kids enjoyed all the wildlife (cats). Location is wonderful right next to a short hike to a Venus pool. We loved it and would come again.
We enjoyed being off the beaten path to get an authentic taste of Maui. Cute house, comfortable. Loved being across the street from the lagoon. Overall, very nice stay.
Our stay at Hana Ocean Palms Bungalow was exactly as we hoped for when booking. Close to Venus Pool where we were the only ones there with all the tropical smells, sights, and sounds. Location allowed us to explore more than you can on the drive and return trip,
Very relaxing and beautiful property. Every aspect was perfect. Great proximity to activities and awesome food nearby as well. A perfect end to a beautiful drive on the road to Hana. Truly a dream come true.
We loved this house! We loved playing games and sleeping on the screened in porches feeling the ocean breeze. We would definitely come back as it was a highlight of our Maui trip
Second time staying on this property and will stay again.
This was my second stay at this property and I’d say is the perfect location in Hana. The family loved the house and how it gave us a living in the rainforest being so open. The grounds were fun to explore, the kids loved the friendly cats, 3 minute walk to Venus pools. Comfy beds and a great property manager. Looking forward to staying again.
Our family of four, including two teens, stayed here for two nights during an 8 day trip to Maui. Staying at this house was our favorite part of the trip. We walked to the Venus pool each morning and swam alone and loved how different staying here was from the huge resorts. We will be back for sure.
This location is so perfect, we enjoyed multiple trips to the venus pools and listening to all the creatures at night. We spent hours reading on the front porch bed and listening to brief rainstorms. Heaven. Grateful to our host for showing us all the fruit and coconut trees around us.
This wasn’t the first time I stayed at Albert’s place! I attend to be a frequent renter. The location is is better than great! Although it rained for one of the days we were there, I’m glad I was in that bungalow. Can’t wait to visit again

The home and location was great. There were some cleanliness issues that had to be dealt with but the were dealt with quickly. The staff and owner were very attentive and understanding.
Pictures do not do this rental justice as it's very accommodating in regards to hosting areas, beds and location. Albert even greeted us after our later arrival which was appreciated. There are 3 separate sleeping areas (bedroom, front porch and back porch) and I must say the front porch was quite peaceful listening to the lush garden blowing in the evening wind. I'd gladly stay here again and would highly recommend to others.
The place was amazing! It was a 20 minute walk to hamoa beach, and literally across the street from waioka pond, which are two of the most gorgeous places I have ever seen. The place was beautiful. The host was friendly and helpful. He told us about some great spots and was very accommodating. He cut open coconuts fresh from the tree for us too! Thanks for the hospitality!
We had the most fantastic stay at Hana Ocean Palms. Albert was a wondeful and generous host. The house was perfect for our family of 6 (my husband, myself, our 3 young adult kids, and our newest member a soon to be son-in-law). The home is situated in the perfect spot just a few minutes from Hana Town, 2 minutes drive from beach, and a quick walk to the Sacred pools. Gardens surrounding the home are beautiful, lush, and full of fresh fruit. Our 3 nights at this home were our favorite part of our entire trip to Hawaii.
Loved all of it! From the 70's retro look inside gave you a feeling of being younger and back in the 70's when things were much simpler. The beds were comfy, the shower was nice (soft water) and the kitchen was well stocked. We stayed two nights in Hana and also visited family just up the road by St. Peters church. The hammocks were a great relaxing addition and was used a lot. The property manager was very nice to work with and the grounds were immaculate. We will be back, Loved It!
Perfect for the adventurous type who still likes a roof, a comfortable atmosphere, and a shower!
In short, if you are planning on a few days, a week, or even longer in Hana Town, you are the kind of person who will love this bungalow.Hana Ocean Palms Bungalow is a place to settle in for a while when exploring the southeast side of Maui. The grounds have a very tropical forest atmosphere. The birds and mongoose scurrying in and out of the banana plants, Hawaiian Ginger everywhere, other types of palms with ferns and orchids high in the air, just a very comfortable place to sit and take it all in after a long day of hiking the Pipiwai Trail, ʻOheʻo Gulch (Seven Sacred Pools) and plenty of sightseeing. Speaking of sightseeing, Waioka Pond (the infamous Venus Pool) is just a fifteen-minute walk. The inside is rustic and comfortable. The kitchen is small but has everything you might need. The bedrooms and beds are very nice, but the bed out on the enclosed front porch was amazing! Albert, the host, is great. If you have the chance to meet him, you will be better off for it. Thank you again Albert!
From the moment our family stepped foot onto this amazing property we all knew we were staying someplace special. The yard is full of flowering plants and edible plants. The house walks a fine balance of kitschy and homey decor. With three lanais and one full bedroom to choose from for sleeping our family literally slept in a different place every night! The property is perfectly located between Hamoa/Koki Beach and Pipiwai Trail. It's crowning achievement though is to be located directly across the street from the Waioka Pond (Venus Pools)! I cannot overstate how incredible it is to simply want to go hand out at WP and be a five minute walk to it! The cherry on top is the fabulous outdoor shower for washing off after your amazing adventures. Bamboo walls, lava rock floor, living plants, and the stars for your roof makes showering such a joy! Of course there is a full bathroom in the house if you don't like the outdoor shower.
My family loved our time here. We will certainly return.
The Ocean Palms Bungalow is the perfect vacation home on the road to Hana. It is set back and hidden from the road and is surrounded by beautiful trees and a lush garden. I stayed at a similar cottage years ago but that home was sold and taken off the rental market. I have been searching for another like it for years but nothing has ever compared until now. The house is not a sleek, modern place with all new matchy- matchy furniture. But that is exactly what makes this place so special. It looks as if it was put together in stages just as your own home might be. Everything was in good condition and the house was cozy, clean, and comfortable. Ceiling fans and screened windows kept us cool. A hammock on the screened back porch and a bed on the screened front porch were delightful places to relax with a book! We loved being visited by the property’s cats. The house is a short walk to the ocean and a short distance to purchase supplies. It was everything that we wanted. We island hopped on this trip but after reaching the Hana house we wished we had spent our entire 2-week vacation here.
We loved Albert’s place and the magic he has hidden in this quaint gem of a cottage. What a host! So many lovely surprises during our stay we had the privilege to discover in the area and on the property . Be sure to go to the local farmers market. Bring 2 bills. They are a special compliment here and considered lucky. I love plants and was able to spend some time learning all about the ginger, bananas, orchids, coconuts, avocados and what seemed like dozens of other amazing finds right there. There is a breathtaking waterfall just a few miles past this place in a secluded setting like you have never seen. We saw breathtaking sunrises on an empty beach just a few minutes away. There are even more surprises we will leave for you to discover on your own. The hardest part was saying goodbye. We had some time on the west side after for a corporate get together at the Ritz Carlton and while lovely, it paled in comparison on so many levels and lacked the soul and uniqueness this area has. I could have stayed right there on the screened in front porch the rest of our time and been perfectly content. Albert’s love and care shines through this space. If you are anything like us it will remain in your hearts forever. Enjoy your stay.
This little bungalow has the perfect Hana location. We were able to walk to the Venus Pool and be the only ones there. The property manager walked around the property with us and gave us some fruit to try. The jungle surrounding the house is so beautiful. Upon entrance to the house I was worried. It was pretty dang hot. It did cool down at night/early early morning but I do think a couple more fans would be helpful (the one in the back room doesn't work). We were eaten alive by mosquitos (yes, some in the house). If I had known, or thought about it more, I would have taken light-weight pants. We did have plenty of bug spray but no one likes to be covered in bug spray all the time. There is a queen bed on the front porch, a queen bed in the first bedroom and then another queen bed and twin bed in the back room. The one bathroom is small but sufficient. Beside the mosquitos we didn't have any other bug problems but we weren't there for too long. We enjoyed the geckos in and outside the house. There were some beach chairs, boogie boards and sand toys that we used. It is quaint and a little rustic but I would stay again.
