However, my very expensive room witj a peivate onsen did not have air conditioning which was upsetting given the price I paid for that room. Nice design though I wouldnt say it was worth the rate we paid. I've been to pther ryokan with same price with private onsen. But overall it was pleasant. We bought the dinner buffet (and our stay included the breakfast buffet) and it was SO worth it - so many traditional Japanese options and some western options as well as delicious drinks and desserts. We also decided to get late night head massages - HIGHLY recommend!! Best stay and sleep we had while traveling in Japan. Great buffet breakfast with lots of food choices. However the bed mattress isn’t very comfortable. I feel I needed the onsen to undo the soreness of my back after I woke up. Was that intentional?
