Loved this hotel! Staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast is amazing - incredible seafood and other options - probably the best hotel breakfast we’ve had! The hot spring spa on the top floor offers a great view along with a clean and comfortable experience. Some of the tile is getting a little dated, but overall it’s great. We wish we had a Japanese style room, but there weren’t many listed on the Hotels.com website. I did not eat at the hotel restaurant, choosing instead the many nearby restaurants for a more unique experience. My room had a lot of worn wood but the most irritating part of my late May stay was that the air conditioning on both the floor and within my room was turned off and they said they would not turn it on "until summer." That meant I had to open the window to cool the room. Given that Japan is bright by 5 AM in May, the combination of a warm room and an open window made sleeping difficult. Overall is perfect. Breakfast has a lot of choices and very delicious. The Hakodate Bay view is good. Close to the old brick warehouse shopping mall and within walking distance to the tram to the Hakodate mountain for night view. The room is tiny (probably because I reserved the cheapest room). The breakfast is okay but the smell is too fishy for my taste. The staffs are courteous and helpful. Overall a great stay. You could grind the coffee beans they provided and make a hot mug of coffee while staying inside the room. The staff were really friendly and kind and the hotel breakfast was nothing short of amazing. It's a 15min walk to the station or you could take a bus/streetcar there too. There's so much to see within walking distance and lots of food options nearby. The hotel is on the waterfront, near to shops and restaurants. While in Japan we’ve stayed at many Dormy hotels. All Dormy hotels have onsen. This hotel is part of their premium series, The style of the rooms is vintage, Our room included a lovely old-style coffee grinder, fresh beans and heritage China. The buffet breakfast at the hotel is extraordinary.
