We were extremely happy with our 3 nights stay at Gabaa. Staff were superb. All the cabins were hidden amongst the nature, making it must more relaxing and enjoyable. Property was very quiet and had plenty of privacy. Hiruni and Eranda and also everyone else were always available and made our stay memorable. My kids didn’t want to leave the property. Rooms very spacious and AC was worked perfectly. We got some tea and food and they were authentic.
We really loved the hotel. It was an energising getaway for us and the treatment from the staff showed genuine hospitality. Much, much recommended, given the very fair price we paid.
Very nice, quiet and friendly hotel with individual chalets. Located off the main road but within easy reach of restaurants along the road. The staff are very warm and welcoming and the restaurant food very nice. Very good value stay in all respects.
This is a really chilled, small resort that is a great base for all the sight seeing and activities in the area. Rooms were big, clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Easy walk into the nearby village, there's a great market there some days.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Wonderful staff . nothing was too much trouble. Lovely accommodation. Bit difficult for driver to find but very secluded. Only negative was the stray dogs roaming around and 1 in particular sleeping outside our front door.
This hotel is one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever been to. It’s so quiet and peaceful. The cabins are very clean and well furnished. The garden is amazing. The staff are so nice and the breakfast is delicious.
I had a great stay at Gabaa resort and spa. My room was lovely and very spacious. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, plus the food was delicious. I had a fantastic treatment in the spa and would highly recommend this stay to others!
Amazing cottages tucked up in the woods. We found the staff to be friendly and the food (breakfast) was delicious. The rooms are new and modern. Will stay again.
this is for adventurers only who are fine with living in the nature. my 4 years old son and I loved it. the service was excellent and the homemade food served at the restaurant is the best we had during our trip in Sri Lanka.
Short but sweet stay at gabaa! We arrived in the evening to such a kind welcome. Drinks, answered questions, and got us to our stunning room. We ordered dinner which was delicious as well. Unfortunately didn’t have time to take advantage of the other amenities but it all looked beautiful and clean.
A lovely little resort with lovely and helpful staff. There was a little gecko in our room and a few little critters outside our cabin that scurried around on the roof waking us up in the night (but we didn’t mind). We didn’t swim in the pool because it looked a little milky. Overall I still loved this property and would stay again.
We had such a wonderful experience here. The resort is beautiful, perfectly maintained, and truly an oasis of peace and calm. Our room was delightful and very clean, with a large comfortable bed, quiet air conditioning, and a lovely bathroom with an excellent rainfall shower. The food was absolutely delicious, with plenty of choice.
But the very best part of our stay was the people. Just before our arrival, our tuk-tuk was involved in an accident and needed repairs. The team went far above and beyond anything we could have expected, offering us incredible help and support. Their kindness, warmth, and genuine care made a stressful situation feel completely manageable.
Every interaction with the staff was heartfelt and welcoming. We were genuinely disappointed that we had only booked one night, and we would recommend everyone to stay longer and fully enjoy this special place if they have the chance. There is truly nothing that could be improved.
For western tourists, this cannot be described as “luxury”. It is a cabin in a nice wooded area with breakfast at 10 USD per person in reception. The pool is a plunge pool. The staff are nice and friendly. Some struggle with English. We were unfortunate and had torrential rain for a full day and a half. Couldn’t sleep because of the tin roof and there was no bar to retreat to. There’s not much to do if it’s raining in Habarana and there’s not even a tv in your cabin. If the weather was better it wouldn’t have been so bad. Had a spa treatment. 65 USD and nothing to write home about

Unique beautiful house however service below par
Booked this resort as it was a last minute trip and most bigger hotels were booked out. It’s an amazing place, very good value for money for a unique partially-glass house with a nice semi-outdoor shower. Rooms are clean and mine had two beds. The environment is serene and peaceful and some time on the hammock was so relaxing. Overall I had no issues with the room and resort itself.
However, I would point out the service is quite bad. I arrived late at night and the main receptionist wasn’t there but a gentleman met me and gave me tea and escorted me to the room however when I asked questions about Sigiriya and recommendations he wasn’t able to answer. I did interact with the reception through their WhatsApp number which helped but still some things were unable to be provided.
I would still recommend this place as it’s unique and peaceful if you can deal with not-so-great service.
This place would be incredible if the receptionist (who was great!) was there 24/7 or if they managed this better.
The place is really beautiful, and the gardens are very well looked after.
The only small downside was our terrace : some of the wooden planks were a bit worn, so you had to be a little careful not to trip.
The hotel is quite unique and very well located, close to Minneriya safari and the famous Lion’s Rock, which makes it a great base for exploring the area.
The staff were all very friendly, and communication was easy throughout our stay.
The only point to note is that the meal service can be a bit slow which could be less ideal if you're in a hurry.
Thanks again for the welcome, we had a really lovely stay with our children!
This quaint little place tucked away in nature was a great place to stay before visiting Sigiriya Rock. Nice individual A-Frames, good pool, and friendly staff.
We stayed here for a night and wish we could have stayed longer.. absolutely loved staying here . The rooms were clean and has a rustic feel. The staff were amazing. I would rate it 10* if I could . The location is great , tucked away from the hustle but close to town . You can get on a safari tour to see the elephants. Definitely will visit here again .

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Maybe the weather was bad when we travelled or the place is overrated. Staff boys need proper training on hospitality and respecting hosts' privacy. Food was expensive but good.
