The Reef & Reel provides plenty of rest and relaxation. The beach is only 100 yards from the front door by way of the boardwalk beach access across the street. Little Lagoon is only 50 yards out the back door, where you will find your very own boat slip. This property provides a fishing dock, private sandy beach area on the lagoon, and a small community pool. This house has it all! Located 3.7 miles from the intersection of Hwy 59 on West Beach Blvd, you are close to the great restaurants and shopping but yet in a very quiet part of Gulf Shores. Right out the front door of this house you will find a breath taking view of the Gulf of Mexico. The back deck has a great view of Little Lagoon. This lagoon is famous for record catches of spotted trout, red fish, flounder, and stingrays. Our family favorite is catching blue crab. Of course, you can clean your fish at the fish cleaning station at the pier, which goes out into the lagoon. Have your own boat? You can keep it in the waters during your stay using the private boat slip. You can enjoy access to the community swimming pool. This is NOT a condo ... this is your own house. It is very hard to find a 3 bedroom, 3 bath house with a great gulf view, a lagoon for fishing, a swimming pool, and lots of privacy! The home sleeps 10 with 2 king bed, 1 queen beds, a queen sleeper sofa, and 2 twin roll-away beds. There are also 3 full baths. Two bedrooms and two baths are upstairs and both have incredible views of the gulf that open onto a large deck. The third bedroom and bath are downstairs with a deck looking out onto the lagoon. There are tables and chairs on all of the decks. Also, you will find on the first floor a kitchen, eating area, living room, and laundry room. Sliding doors take you from the living room onto a deck overlooking the gulf. The living room has ample sitting options. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need. There is a 47" high definition TV in the living room and high definition TVs in each bedroom. Oversized vans nor campers will fit under the house. There is only 3 parking spaces available under the house. It was cozy and had all of the amenities necessary to make our stay comfortable. We had one slight appliance issue, but after a quick message to the host, a repairman was out to fix it and we were good as new afterwards. The only thing negative about the stay was we wish the patio had better outdoor lighting for sitting on the patio after sunset. The washer was fun to work with as it tends to travel while washing, but still works and did what it needed to do. The house is spacious, even for 11 of us, we had plenty of room. The unobstructed view of the ocean is priceless. It is perfect for families, close to everything, but far enough away from the crowds. Our kids caught lots of crabs and even fed Lucky the heron at the lagoon. The beach is just a short walk across the street. The house was clean and well maintained. The front patio door was a challenge to open for our little ones, but its a heavy door. We would definitely recommend this property ##### leshia s. Reef and Reel could not have been more perfect for our first family vacation to the beach! The listing was so accurate. The house was so close to the beach and we loved watching the ocean from the balcony while we drank coffee. We even saw dolphins swimming one morning from the balcony - so cool! The house was clean and decorated so nicely with beachy decor. We especially loved the set up- grandparents stayed on the first level with their own bathroom, while my family of four stayed in the two bedrooms upstairs. Each room having its own bathroom was amazing and access to a washer and dryer was so convenient. The big comfy sectional was also so nice in the living room because of all 6 of us could be seated comfortably (for some reason, that tends to be lacking in other houses we’ve rented or looked at). My kids (2 and 6) loved all of the beach toys provided. It was also fun to take the kids to the pool or down to the lagoon in the evening after a long day at the beach. The owner was so responsive to any needs or questions. We couldn’t stop, and can’t stop talking about how much we loved staying at Reef and Reel and hope to come back again for our next beach vacation! ##### Hannah S. Stayed 7 nights in Jun 2023 This review was submitted before 2018 and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### David & Susan V., Jonesboro, AR 18 Jul 2016 #### Very nice, good locations/bonus access to Little Lagoon Our family of 8 (age range 65yrs. to 11months) was very comfortable here. The entire property commons were always very clean and offered great beach access, nice pool area and dock with crabbing/fishing. Our particular unit had comfy beds and adequate kitchen conveniences. Every bedroom had it's own private bathroom, which was great. The large couch/sofa sleeper was not comfortable to sit or sleep on, even for our college age son, but we didn't try the single couch/sleeper. The microwave door needs repair, but does work. Much time was spent on the deck overlooking the beach, which has an unobstructed view of the beach -- HEAVEN!!! -- of an evening into the late hours, so a better patio set w/umbrella would have been nice, but there was plenty of seating and the latch locked gate to the stairs was a blessing for our 11m old. A rep from the cleaner crew stopped in upon our arrival to make sure things were to our liking and the owner contacted us within our first 24hrs to make sure everything was ok. An a/c serviceman was sent to double check the unit's working order -- in the hot afternoons with a lot of in/out activity the unit's temp would get up to 75/76, but always cooled down to the 72 set temp when sun went down and was always comfortable temps for sleeping -- and was very polite and pleasant to deal with. This area was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the commercial area of GS, but a quick drive to get to anything and has a jogging/walking/biking lane along both sides of the road. Overall, this is a great property in a great location that could use some repairs/updates, but was a memory maker for our first all family vacation and we would highly recommend visiting Southern Cross or renting from the owner's other two properties. The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable and clean. There were lots of chairs and beach items in the storage area that we could use. We were about 3 miles from the main drag which meant the beach itself was not as crowded but it was still convenient to go to restaurants and shopping. We loved this place and I can't say enough good things. We hope to be back soon! ##### Jan L. Overall, the house was great. It was stocked with everything you need to get started on vacation. The location was perfect for beach going because we had private access; however, it is a little further down so you can’t really walk to anything.
