$300 was stolen from my purse, in my hotel room the day after I got to the hotel. As soon as I realized the money was missing, I made a report to the front desk. This was my 2nd night at the hotel. The staff seemed unbothered by the situation. I had to be constantly following up with the front desk to find out what was happening. When I was finally spoke to the Duty Manager, who came with the Security Officer the night before to take my statement, he asked, 'So no one spoke to you?' Who else should have spoken to me, I have no clue. I did say he was the Duty Manager? He said they did there investigation and there's nothing they can do. Mind you this is a 6:43 p.m., and I check out at 7:15 a.m. the next morning. I said to the Duty Manager that I can account for and have all my receipts for everything paid for since leaving my country up to that point, so the money didn't magic out of my purse. I knew how much cash I had and $300 was missing.
He proceeded to ask if I was sure I didn't misplace the money and if I am asking that the money be taken from the staff's pay. And then the most unbelievable question of them all, if I wanted them, the hotel, the call the Police. WHAT?!
I spent 3 nights at this hotel on company business and was unable to sleep well for the last 2 nights, feeling very uneasy and unsafe. In all my travels, I have never experienced a situation like this and the level of unprofessionalism.
This hotel will not see me or anyone from my company again.
